Honestly I‘m baffled how the same person can write fun silly comedy dramas like ”Go, Princess, Go!“ or "Princess and The Werewolf“ and then make a 180 and create "The Confidence" 😨 I was so creeped out by the ML, he was a true psycho. 👏🏼 👏🏼
Director Remii Huang expressed, "The main purpose of this series is to encourage viewers to love themselves more and reconcile with past traumas to achieve a healthy balance between sex and love. I want to convey that there is light and beauty in a relationship where sex is accompanied by love.” (about.netflix.com)
did any of the actors dubbed their characters?! (asking cuz I really don't know 😅) watched a few other Ling…
It’s their own voice… some scenes even use live recording :) According to baidu only a few supporting roles got dubbed by VAs. But compared to their other work, the actors deepened their voice to fit the vibe of the drama
Overall it was fun, although a bit too long in my opinion. The ML has got interesting looks, I would like to see him in a higher budget drama and if he improves his acting over time he's got a promising future. The ML being a Villain was the reason I watched this and compared to other similar dramas, here the ML stays true to that for most part of the story - which I liked a lot.
The ending was expected and okay, but a few things were quite foolish and therefore I couldn't even care if someone died or not. Compared to the finale, I was actually more let down about how early Ji Feng died. He was lively, cocky but easy to befriend and fun to watch.
I wasn‘t sure who AvenueX talked about when she said the lead actress of "The happy seven in chang'an" had a lot of (well done) plastic surgery to fit the demands of cdrama aesthetic and now looks completely different. But then I looked it up and I can’t believe it’s the same actress as "Dear Diary" 🥲 … don’t get me wrong she’s now idol-pretty but her natural look was charming and made her acting feel more natural than what it seems now.
Shot in 2020… almost lost hope but I checked on weibo an according to screenshots it was changed to 'My Genius Boyfriend', shortened to 30 episodes and resubmitted to get a license (dec23)
👏🏼 👏🏼
The show focuses on the economic crimes and mainly talks about the police's investigation on a tycoon in Beijiang.
- it’s a Youku drama, not MangoTV but the announcement was in 2020 who knows if we‘ll ever see it

Funny enough it’s not as dramatic as the preview made it out to be.
