I watch a lot of asian dramas with that trope and usually it’s quite obvious… at least with the dramas I watch 😅 But it’s true that when it’s obvious people complain (why tho when it’s literally the plot😂)

I just finished it and that comment gives the impression there was never happiness until the end and it’s slowburn lovestory. They’re actually a couple or close majority of the drama (except for the disappearance time ofc). It’s a really beautiful but sad love/life story with a good ending. I hope you might try it still :)
Aside from the ML being the biggest red flag 🚩 there ever was…. Wtf was that ending shot? What was he looking at and why was he moving his head so strangely with a fake a$$ smile? 🥲😂
