i really wasn't expecting any kind of reconcilliation between yong san and ji pyeong, but i can 100% get behind it!! the maturity they both had in that conversation is the kind of development i wanted for everyone post timeskip, and yet. and yet.
i really shouldn't be laughing at the fact they ended the episode on do san and ji pyeong staring at each other with future playing in the background but lmaoooo
MDL is full of JiDal shippers, but once you go to tumblr, it's all NDS defending there & quite offensive hate…
tumblr is so exhausting for this exact reason which is why i end up complaining about the hypocrisy in the tag all the time lmao. like why is it okay for you guys to post hate in the tag about hjp nonstop but the second someone criticises any of nds' actions it's "hjp's fans are so toxic and have ruined the drama" and "you shouldn't put your hate for a character in the tag, it's rude"???
i prefer it here and on reddit, too. at least most of the debates here are actual discussions and not just us being called stupid for wanting a decent drama lmao
i keep seeing in jae x ji pyeong edits on tumblr and while i don't want it to happen in this drama (that ship has long since sailed lmao) i WOULD really like to see kim seon ho and kang han na team up in something else because they look great together!!!
I have the same problem with her character. Guess the SK is not that ready for strong and intelligent female characters.…
it's so frustrating that we've gone from a dal mi who absolutely point-blank refused to accept anything from in jae, to a dal mi who is willing to let in jae be her boss??? like, as happy as i am for us to maybe get that resolution between them, it doesn't feel at ALL earned because up until this point they're still being openly hostile to each other.
i'm willing to give her a little bit of a pass because i can't remember if they ever say what kind of lawyer she was and what her specialty was, but god sa ha's entire characterisation is all over the place outside of that, too. like, one episode she hates dal mi and do san together and thinks office romances are gross to suddenly being all for them together??? (sorry for that mini rant lmao i'm ANNOYED)
dal mi literally the entire drama: i enjoy the hardship, i like the struggle, i want to be told the truth even if it hurts me.
the writers: okay, so how about we pair her up with a guy that constantly treats her like she's made of glass, who lies to her about even the smallest things because in his mind he's doing it to protect her, and who acts as her yes-man because he never challenges her on any of her choices.
this isn't even about me wanting her to be with hjp because i would be quite happy for them to remain platonic. oh, episode 1-8 dal mi where have you gone?? i miss you so terribly.
i know asking what the point of certain plot hooks are in this drama is pretty pointless, given just how quickly it's gone down hill. but, what was the point of having the mentor see yong san's brother jump from that bridge if they then just decided to push the "hjp is evil" narrative instead??
unless, that storyline was originally meant to have something to do with her instead, but because of the unexpected popularity of hjp they shifted it to him REALLY clumsily to try and make the audience like him less? idk it just, like a lot of the writing in the past few episodes, doesn't make sense lmao.
this whole stupid revenge plot would feel a lot less forced and unnecessary if they'd just kept it as yong san wanting to beat ji pyeong's no success record instead of adding the pointless brother aspect at what feels like the last second
okay so that entire episode was a dumpster fire BUT!!!! ji pyeong nation! it looks like we're getting another…
i don't even care about the stupid love triangle anymore i'm just annoyed that we're on episode 12 and ji pyeong STILL doesn't know halmeoni's going blind but it the longer he goes without knowing the more it makes me think that's what that 13 hour crying session was for
okay so that entire episode was a dumpster fire BUT!!!! ji pyeong nation! it looks like we're getting another halmeoni + ji pyeong scene in tomorrow's episode
Just noticed that Kimsamsoom's theory below goes with the twitter thread by MarhMarh@Jeonggal. The latter noted…
i don't really believe there's a possibility of it actually happening, but this could also be a way of kickstarting in jae's ~redemption~ arc.
now that she doesn't work for her stepfather's company anymore, she's got no reason to go back to the us and we desperately need something to happen with her for kang han na to be justified as a main actor. and it would make sense for that redemption to come in the form of family, seeing as that's the reason the rift between them all exists in the first place. SOMETHING needs to happen between these characters, otherwise what's the point of this story line outside of heartbreak??
*edit to clarify what i'm saying lmao: dal mi leaving halmeoni in in jae and their mother's care would make both in jae's redemption arc meaningful AND give us a reason for all the (so far) pointless interactions between the mother and halmeoni in the first place.
i don't actually think this is the route they'll choose to go, but it would be so interesting if it was haha
As I already posted b4, if the promoted material was not all about NJH, then I wouldn't believe one sec he's the…
not at all!!! literally - just as i said - wondering if the only reason people consider him to BE the main character is because of the actor playing him because from a narrative standpoint he really isn't.
As I already posted b4, if the promoted material was not all about NJH, then I wouldn't believe one sec he's the…
exactly lmao, everything about him - other than who he's played by - screams second lead, and that's what's so frustrating. more often than not, that's the only argument they really have. oh well, at least we know seon ho's gonna be the lead in his next drama (on top of the times he already has been)
i have to wonder if the only reason people are so adamant about do san being the male lead is JUST because of who he's being played by. it's an argument i've seen A LOT on other sites - "of course njh is the lead, he's njh", "they're not gonna make an unknown the lead over njh lmao don't be stupid", etc. but if we replaced njh with an actor around the same level of recognition as ksh would there even be a question of who the male lead should be??
if we removed njh - and his fame, and the expectations that come with that - from the equation and instead looked at the discrepency between how many of the plotlines hjp is directly tied to, and has been from the start of the drama, and how few nds is directly tied to, would the argument that nds is the male lead hold any water??? i think that's where the dissatisfaction comes from, for a lot of people. without njh, nds most likely WOULDN'T be seen as the male lead.
don't get me wrong, i understand full well how the korean entertainment industry works; i KNOW that nds is the male lead - and how this will end for him - purely because of who he's being played by, i just wonder whether there would be such a debate over who the ml is if the role had been given to someone else. (also please know that this isn't me complaining about njh, i think he's doing a great job with what he's been given and he's improved a LOT since i first saw him in wfkbj)

he's so broken and vunerable and desperate for someone to tell him he isn't a bad person my heart aches for him
