They couldn't list Yanan as a Special Appearance or Cast Member because his role and screen time are significantly larger than those of the rest of the supporting cast.

And it was never about billing for Yanan's fans anyway. They only fought back after some of Xiwei's fans started attacking his health and invading his space by tagging him and leaving comments on his posts.

I agree. Acting is hard work, and they deserve to reap the success they've worked for. Sadly, bigger fandoms tend to come with more toxic fans.

I could only sigh when I saw the chaos after they released the photos for the 1M reservation. It was supposed to be a moment of celebration.

Also, this isn't even the first time their fandoms have gone at each other's throats. From what I've seen while lurking on xhs and weibo, YA's fans are pretty chill, imo. They only retaliated bcs the other side started targeting him personally. Even tagging him and commenting on his weibo posts about his health, wishing for his health to worsen.

I just wish this could still air without so much drama. I've been waiting for this alongside Sea of No Return.

New billing rules were introduced to avoid fanwars, but they ended up making things worse lol. TXW and YA were announced as the "leads" before the new rules took effect, so the production team listed them that way in the recently released materials. TXW's fans didn't want his name on the same line as hers (they wanted him to be billed as a supporting actor since it's a female-centric drama.) The problem was that some fans directed their anger at the artist instead of the production team that made the billing decision. Then all hell broke loose.

This was filmed toward the end of filming Fangs of Fortune. He was changing sets, and this wasn't his main focus at the time. But you're right, 20% is too low. He probably had more influence during post-production, but during filming, it was mostly the other two directors who were there on set.

gao zheng's role is one of the villains. just genuinely a bad person with no redeeming qualities.

he's not the main director for this one. he probably only directed like 20% of the show. most of it was directed by dir liu chang and another director. but yeah, he still had some influence, hence the color grading and the vibe of the teaser.

Whether Lu Zhuo lived or died, Jun Dai and her “aunt” still would have killed Ah Chou to erase all traces of their scheme. They literally trapped her. They gave her no choice but to take Jun Dai’s place, then planned to discard her afterward. There was no way that deal would have ended with Ah Chou unscathed, especially since Jun Dai and her aunt clearly held the upper hand. They were powerful people whose only problem was not having enough status to stand above everyone else.

So yes, Ah Chou did everything to survive.

Jun Dai being bratty and selfish wasn’t used solely to justify Ah Chou’s actions. Some people are simply like that, and that’s exactly the kind of behavior the story is trying to critique.

There’s also the whole “they look alike” aspect, which is basically the biggest plot point in the story. Ah Chou is where she was always meant to be.

They made major changes in the drama. Jun Dai is the name Wei Rao (the evil one) used when Wei Rao (good) replaced her as the bride.

I’ve read the book, but the drama made significant changes to the original story. Tbh, glad they did that bcs the novel didn't grip me as much as the script did.

Major spoiler: Ah Chou and Jun Dai look alike because they’re actually cousins who were switched when they were kids. Ah Chou is the REAL Wei Rao, so in a way, she just ended up where she was always meant to be.

She actually voiced both characters herself, but used a completely different tone and delivery for each.

Nah. Ah Chou had no choice but to take Wei Rao’s place. She was forced by Wei Rao (later renamed Jun Dai) because she didn’t want to be a widow. They were so sure Lu Zhuo was going to die, lmao. But Lu Zhuo suddenly woke up from his coma, and Jun Dai couldn’t accept that Wei Rao (Ah Chou) had taken her place.

Well, bottom line is that everything Ah Chou did was for survival. Jun Dai has always been bratty and selfish, even before the switch. She did some awful things.
