On Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale May 31, 2024
The first thing I have to say is that I started watching this drama for Pyo Ye-Jin and Lee Jun-Young (Jun) and I am going to continue watching this drama for Ye-Jin and Jun.

Ye-Jin and Jun are two of my favourite actors. They are experts at playing silly goofy characters with serious back stories. Their chemistry is off the charts. They really do give twin troublemaker vibes.

To explain, this show feels like a third-rate cinderella story in the best way possible (I promise this is a compliment). It reminds me of the narrative style often employed by Japanese shows. It's refreshing and imaginative. A light-hearted and fun drama with minimal seriousness.

In contrast to your typical K-dramas, this drama spares on time on the romance. First episode in and you practically dive head in to romance in the most hilarious and nonchalant way.

I can already feel that this drama is going to be an absolute hilarious and sweet gem.

How do you know we never experienced depression. Everyone has their problems but suicide is not the solution.…
i’m so terribly sorry for your loss. i’d love to think that your brother is in eternal peace and is looking at you with love and care from a distance. sometimes there are instances that you as family really don’t see it coming, some people just tend to hide their struggles way too well. i hope that you are doing better and that you are getting the help you need. if you ever need anyone to talk to, i’m here. and thank you for not blaming your brother or scrutinising his choice. we need more kind people like you in this world.

i think you need to look at it from a different perspective. suicide isn’t a problem or a solution, it’s a choice. a choice someone makes when they feel as if they have no hope, that there is no light left in the world for them, and when they feel cornered. it’s a choice made out of desperation and fear, there is no logic or rationale behind it. not everyone has the courage to live and continue to fight, some want to rest and find their peace. we can’t be the judge of what’s right or wrong for them. victim blaming when it comes to suicidal people, only further isolates them and prompts them to make drastic choices. people with depression and suicidal tendencies should always be looked at with kindness and be offered comfort, not scrutiny. that’s you prevent such events. we can always be a bit more compassionate.

i definitely feel for his family who are faced with loss. at the same time, i feel for him who suffered in life. i worry for the mental health of his family, and i hope that they get the proper help and support they need.

most importantly, i hope people realise that celebrities are human too. mistakes can be made by anyone. allegations and rumours are not the truth. we shouldn’t be so quick in jumping on the hate wagon. hate is never the answer. it’s important to hold people accountable in proportion to their wrongdoing.

sympathising and understanding those with suicidal tendencies and depression is how we can prevent tragedy. no one needs to suffer and fight just to live in misery. life shouldn’t have to be endless darkness or hopelessness. so, i hope he can finally find his peace and that anyone else thinking of the same choice will reach out for help before making an irreversible choice.

personally i love this show. i don’t like watching romcoms in general but i loved this. even if i don’t like romcoms i usually give them a try and i have watched a lot in the past.

the plot of this drama isn’t great at all. there are so many plot-holes imo. there are quite a few parts that don’t make any sense. i also don’t run with the whole being a afraid of smiles thing. like he is a businessman. it’s kinda in the job and he does smile too so like??

i know that a lot of people don’t think the pace is realistic bc he fell in love too fast and goes the extra mile already. she low-key got over her long-term boyfriend (now ex) very fast. but honestly that’s what i like about the show. i like that all the extra dramatic misunderstandings were skipped and the denial stage yk never really happened.

most importantly the chemistry between yoona and junho is absolutely amazing. they are the main reason i’m watching. the casting was done perfectly imo. i can’t think of anyone better for their roles other than them.

i also like the leads. i don’t like it when the ml is always over their head and when the fl is always some damsel in distress. even though this drama is very cliché, the characters are quite appealing.

the cliché aspect of this drama makes it more likeable to me. i’m reminded of 2016 era romcoms but made with better production quality. it’s very nostalgic and lighthearted. it makes you happy.
