did anyone else think this one of the saddest shows ever lmao like most dramas have an element of sadness or tragedy…
IKR OMG. he really never got to be happy/problem free ever again once his dad left. yes ugh.. and he felt so bad for suspecting his brother and thinking his crazy. when he found his brother passed out in the old house and bumgyun apologizes and woojin is like NO IM SORRY. omg can i cry.. and the poor thing with his grandmother.. this kid is really pure. like in such an urgent situation most people would just grab the usb by force, no matter how shaken up it might make the grandma. but this boy just cries and begs so much that the senile grandmother actually understands who he is and willingly gives it to him. my heart... earlier on in the show when the grandma slapped him and he bled, he looked so sad and hurt like i felt so bad..
seriously.. not only did the bad guys kill him but they continued to tarnish his name and inhumanely create a clone of him just to be locked up and used as a 'proponent' for their unethical business.. ikr. i want to rewatch this drama though i know i will be crying the whole time haha. i feel like it's actually worse rewatching it because you know that things get better and there's not that possibility of hope that comes with watching for the first time. yeah woojin has never once taken the easy way out this kid gave his all AND LITERALLY. LITERALLY GAVE HIS LIFE for his loved ones.
exactly i feel so bad for his clone too. when the brother said these weren't the hands i held when we were younger. oh my god. AND WOOJIN JUST ACCEPTS ALL THIS VERBAL ABUSE AND WAS GOING TO TURN HIMSELF INTO HUMAN B LIKE BE IT THE ORIGINAL WOOJIN OR CLONE WOOJIN HE CONTINUES TO SACRIFICE HIMSELF FOR HIS LOVED ONES
did anyone else think this one of the saddest shows ever lmao
like most dramas have an element of sadness or tragedy but like this one hurt me so much haha just never ending tragedy
(seriously though don't read this if you haven't watched the show yet because it's all spoilers, and this show was sooo good that you really should watch it)
-> his father disappears and he's never heard from after 10 years
-> he thinks he was abandoned
-> ever since then his brother "lost his mind" and was crazy about aliens, and went to mental facilities and prison
-> his grandma has dementia and he's all alone in this world having to act like such a cold person to maintain his scholarship that he inquires about the open position the day after his classmate dies
-> he initially thinks his brother killed all those students
-> he doubts his brother and he gets kidnapped (i swear there was no more upsetting scene than watching him run after the fake ambulance as he and a desperate and bloody bumgyun call out to each other, besides the scene i'll mention further down this list)
-> his brother loses his memories?? can you imagine how freaking bad woojin must have felt after not believing his brother for so long only for all this to happen
-> here we go the most upsetting part for me... in order to protect his remaining loved ones, tricked by donggun, he willingly puts himself in insurmountable danger. he makes sure jungyeon, his brother, and even his grandma are taken care of, and sets up pre-scheduled emails to send them knowing very well he may not return. he tried so hard ... he planned everything out. he created a loud noise memory, snuck the remote to turn up the volume, brought ear plugs, even employed dongsoo's help (though in vain as he missed his cue). he turned on the loud memory which temporary disabled the bad guys, and ran off with the memory star.
he was hiding in the woods and the crooked cop lured him out saying that he killed his dad. woojin hits him with a rock and then the other bad guys arrive
he makes another run for it, determined as all absolute hell, to protect the technology, not let the bad guys get their hands on it, and return to his loved ones, but then the car strikes him and he dies..........
i'm like so sad he tried his absolute hardest, thought up an amazing plan, and despite all the awful things that continued to happen to them he kept on fighting and running. but then the car hit him and he died. even in his last conscious moments he was thinking of the star and not wanting the bad guys to get their hands on it, and thinking of jungyeon and bumgyun. now that scene where he got hit was the saddest scene for me, i couldn't even rewatch it during the following episode's recap
-> then he "wakes up" 20 years in the future and finds out he's really a clone and the actual him died. and everyone around him said such beyond hurtful things that he's a fake, he's not real, you're not my family, etc etc etc as if he fucking chose to die and become a clone. but just look at his expression as he heard people say those things about him, this pure kid. whether it's a clone or woojin, that person has woojin's memories and personalities. we know how sweet woojin is and how much he's been through, so imagine hearing those terrible words...
and then things get "better" from thereon and they "win" but i just couldnt get over the fact that the original woojin died and in such a sad way...
i'm rambling but i just needed to get this out.. that this show was so good but that i'm really sad hahaha
we all interpret shows differently, what was super super sad for me, to someone else could just be the average amount of sad that most dramas had. but for me this drama was a huge tragedy. like for me the saddest drama i've watched was cain and abel and i think i'm now putting this show at 2nd place...
anyways i really enjoyed this show and thought it was excellent..
ok if anyone read that thanks for reading lol
omg i just finished it and it was so good... it gave a really strong sense of closure too (which a lot of dramas…
right? i just get kind of surprised because i'm super picky/impatient and didn't see any problems with the show but then i look at comments and people were complaining about things that i'm usually the one to complain about haha.
IKR. the twists all shocked me but especially the twist about N's character (the other park kwangho) in the last episode had me crying hahaha
now i don't know what to watch after this show..
omg i just finished it and it was so good... it gave a really strong sense of closure too (which a lot of dramas tend to lack).
it amazes me to see comments saying it was slow/predictable bc im the most impatient person ever and i enjoyed the show in its entirety/every step of the way. and there were a lot of plot twists that had me legit yelling for minutes, so i disagree with some other commenters/reviewers who implied it was flat/predictable. i thought it was a really well-balanced and well-paced show. i really really liked tunnel and if you're debating watching it, i say you should definitely go for it!
omg am i the only one who liked it lmao i see so many comments/reviews that thought it was bad
in the past like year or so its become increasingly difficult for me to sit through romcoms unless its exceptionally good (usually i lean towards noir/dark dramas), but i enjoyed this one a lot
imo its really worth watching. ive had a bad streak with historical dramas lately where either the writing of the shows i chose got really bad, or the show just dragged on to the point of me not having the motivation to finish it. but dongyi was a really nice watch throughout every single episode. i never got bored or sick of it, and the writing never upset me and stayed good/logical. besides romance i really enjoyed the brotherhood in this show, siblings deeply caring for each other. but this show offers a lot and i don't view it as solely a 'romance' show. tbh romance isnt the first thing i think of when i hear 'dongyi'. im rambling now but all in all, it's worth the watch!
can anyone recommend some historical dramas similar/as good as this one? [but these ones ive seen already: bridal…
thank you! i'm 1/4 through dongyi now and i really really like it. and i've loved bae soobin since i saw Secret but i have even more respect for him now as this is a totally different role and he brings so much to it. i was watching another historical drama which i felt soso about but i stopped it and watched this one instead and i love every ep so far
can anyone recommend some historical dramas similar/as good as this one?
[but these ones ive seen already: bridal mask, six flying dragons, empress ki, moon lovers, love in the moonlight, three musketeers]
can someone help me recall which episode it was when kangto performed at angel club? and which one where mokdan finally learned his identity? those were 2 of my favorite moments but i didn't note down the episode numbers as i was watching
