if you are interested in admiral Yi sun sin and his war, i'd like to recommend this youtube videos. The maker made the videos using 5 different historical dramas and one of them is this faction drama - Three Kingdom Wars - Imjin War 1592 (2016).

Korea vs Japan War 1592 | Part 1 | The War Has Begun
https://youtu.be/t5490lgtpbc

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More Information.

I made these videos with a great respect for those heroes. I studied East Asian history at Cornell, and when I found about this war there were not many books about this subject so I learned how to read Korean and Japanese. It took a lot of time but it was worth it. I collected these clips from 5 different historical documentary dramas from S.Korea, Japan, China. I mined only historical facts and put more information I know, like what's really happened in the real battles, I had to read the real battle reports and had to put more maps and tactics, so It took over 8 months to make these videos. There were no English subtitles so I had to translate everything myself. It took a lot of time and I also had to work so I couldn't sleep more than 4 hours a day. But it was fun. Hope you guys enjoy it.

- With a great respect, Matthew.

I'm totally impressed by the quality of this show until ep 14. The last two episodes could've been better. Towards the end, some major events seemed contrived and forced. Well, I don't doubt their skills. If they had more time to connect the scenes more naturally, I would have given a perfect score.

I highly respect the writer for creating unique story using Korean traditional fairy tales. But the strength of this show is best cinematography. It's absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. Visually It's unbeatable. I'll give 11 out of 10.

I know some viewers complain about the chemistry between main characters. As one of
Ajussies, I enjoyed their relationship :) I don't know It's her way but the writer created many funny situations using homophones,so It's too bad non-Koreans can't easily catch every nuance of dialogues.

I just finished watching at Kiss Asian and didn't find the subs horrible. They were at least in understandable…
For example, 00:18:07

Old man: Hey little girl. What are you doing here.
Girl: I think there are zombies hiding here.
Old man: There are no zombies in modern times like this..

This is fiction. Real conversation is like this..

Old man: Hey little girl.
If you don't study hard, you will become a person like him.
Girl: My mom said whoever say so is a bad person.
Old man: I guess your mom didn't study hard.

This conversation is important to understand the old man's character.

For example, the phone conversation between Gong Yoo and his wife is almost fake. And the phone conversation between Gong Yoo and his coworker(Mr.Kim) is also a fake. I was so angry because the lines with Mr. Kim are so important to understanding this movie. I won't call that a 'wrong' 'translation' or 'free' 'translation'. They are just made-up lines.

This movie has released on the internet but the quality of English subtitles are just unacceptable. It seems that roughly 40~50% of the lines(especially long ones) are fake or wrong. I doubt the translator will be able to understand Korean. I recommend you put off watching this movie until you can find better subs..

So in episode 2, when Hwang Eui Kyung introduce himself (at around 34mn30), there is a pun with his name. I found…
I think you heard 'Hyung Sa'. Hyung Sa means detective with plain clothes. Kyung We(i) is her formal rank, yes Park Hae Young is a Kyung We too. but CSH is a sunbae, veteran team leader, 12~5 years older than him. He cannot ignore that.

Song Titles are all Korean.

Just one tip for traslating Korean to English using google translator.
Korean to English (x)
Korean to Japanese to Korean (o)

Not complete but you can get sentences or phrases that make more sense.

I'm disappointed about Sun Woo. I mean... why go through all that if nothing changed? Why have Lee Jae Han say…
Well, I think It shows how uneasy and unpredictable changing fate is. If Jae Han had saved Sun Woo, Cha Soo Hyun might have been dead instead. (He saved her life twice).

On What Happens to My Family? Dec 1, 2015
I've found KBS World Youtube channel is showing this drama with eng subs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr02Q2pRW7w&index=53&list=PLMf7VY8La5REsP7o3qlY139MxmVtZQzNH

I have 4 reasons why I recommend this to you.

1) I always thought that the difference between a good kdrama and a great kdrama boils down to storytelling. This show's writer is one of the best writers I have ever seen.

2) It is about love with your family. A serious issue but you can get the lesson with hilariously funny way.

3) The Father, Yoo Dong Geun won the year's best actor award for his role in this show and Jeong Do Jeon (180 degree different role from this one)

4) It is the 1st rating (average 31.7) drama of total 56 (KBS-21, SBS-20, MBC-15) in Korea for 2014

That's enough to give it a try? :) I hope someday KBS World will show Jeong Do Jeon as well, the incredibly executed sageuk.

garbage. the most disappointed film ever.
Lyrical/ To criticize a movie I should become a directer? Your childish logic feels me sick. Just fuck off. At least I spent my money to watch this movie. What did you spend for his hard work? Illegal downloads?
