WHAT WAS THAT OH MY GOOOOODDDDD
You can come up with a hundred theories about what's really happening, and you'll still be wrong.
The script is THAT brilliant. They constructed a perfect narrative, and you get deeply invested in each character’s singularities, powers, personalities, their highs and lows. They're masters in using fantasy to reflect the structure of a capitalist society, creating a a sharp critique without making the story tedious. And that’s the thing: IT NEVER GETS BORING. It’s always insanely exciting, and you become obsessed. The script is just incredible, plot twist after plot twist, you never know their next move.
THE DIRECTING... WHAT A CRAZY CREW. The episodes are insanely well-structured, with perfect directing that makes you feel exactly what the character is feeling. Combined with their "potentials," this gives you an even deeper understanding of what’s going on inside their heads. Huge highlight to Punn’s episodes: I’m not going to spoil anything, but the way they constructed them to make you as confused as Punn? It’s genius. Claire’s episode too! Those are my absolute favorites.
This cast... omg, Jesus was with them in the casting process. I can’t believe they gathered so many top-tier actors in one series. It TOTALLY makes sense that Nanon and Gun were awarded for their roles (if I’m not wrong). Nanon was absolutely phenomenal in the dramatic scenes (as he always is—one of GMM’s greatest actors), but Gun... what the fuck was that. He’s that bitch, one of the greatest actors in all of Thailand and one of my favorites in the world. I can’t say much more without spoiling, but believe me, what he does in this role is NOT easy.
Applause to Victor too. Also Sing, Fiat... every single member of the main cast (both the Gifteds and the teachers) was incredible. It’s crazy that most of them were so young at the time (except for a few).
It’s super well-rated, and trust me: it’s well deserved. Go watch it. I’m insanely anxious to see what happens next in The Gifted: Graduation!
