The 1995 Japanese movie Hana Yori Dango (College) is the first adaption besides the anime. Meteor Garden (College - Taiwanese), Hana Yori Dango series (High School - Japanese) and Boys Over Flowers (High School-Korean) is the most recent adaption of Hana Yori Dango.

Is it going to be in a high setting or a college setting for the American version?

in this show Yukie Nakama scared me so much it took me a while to complete it. But could see that she could play an antagonist character compared to her comedic roles. She did really well.
