also the premise of the film is that protagonist is a newbie in the crew/street dance scene and is understudy…
Then I'm assuming you saw a small clip of the competition that is included in the trailer? I think it's unfair that you are judging the "end result" if you have not watched the whole scene. Of course a clip can give you an idea if you don't think you'll enjoy something, and that's still your decision whether you want to see the whole thing. Just don't use your own interpretation of a seconds clip to make sweeping generalizations about what an actor can handle or a director's skill set when you prob haven't seen the director's other works or the actor's performances. That's just bad faith criticism.

I saw some scenes on a Chinese fim channel today. it was a program about pending premieres and what is currently…
also the premise of the film is that protagonist is a newbie in the crew/street dance scene and is understudy to a more established street dancer. I don't know which clip you watched but you might be confusing the actor with the character or some plots in the film. yibo is NOT an amateur dancer. he has been dancing professionally since he was 13 and he was chosen for this based on recommendation from top street dancers in the actual community, hope this helps

well there are different styles and genres in the street dance scene (hiphop, breaking, popping, locking etc) most dancers specializes in one and that's how they're known in the community. if you mainly do breaking you're a break dancer, if you mainly do popping you're a popper and so on. the actor they cast to play the young protagonist (yibo) is an all-rounder dancer who has background and can do most styles but with specialty in hiphop. the protagonist is a breaker and they included many breaking moves because this film is supposed to be a tribute to break dancing being officially included in asian games. if you watch other bts and interviews it's shown that yibo does most of the dance moves himself in the film (yes, even the breaking). the stunt men are there to do the highly specific or complex stunts that only experienced breakers can do perfectly.
