I don't see it as a political thriller - those usually have winners and losers. This one is pure psychological…
it leans psychological but the political side is still central because everything they do is shaped by power, status and public image. itās not about clear winners and losers but about how the system pressures them and distorts their choices.
the only thing i didnāt like about the drama was Nanaās lip injection bruises. i get that they were going for a natural look but i donāt understand why they didnāt cover them up because it was really distracting
after todayās episode the dynamic between Jeong Won and Chu Sang A becomes impossible to ignore what initially read as rivalry now feels far more complex almost uncomfortably intimate Jeong Won isnāt simply competing with Sang A thereās a pull there something closer to fascination maybe even a quiet infatuation itās the kind of tension that blurs the line between admiration and obsession
and honestly the reception so far feels strangely out of sync with what the series is actually delivering a 7.4 rating after just four episodes that feels premature if not outright dismissive Climax isnāt trying to be easy or conventional it leans into a darker more layered space where politics psychology and moral ambiguity intertwine this isnāt a background noise drama it demands attention and in return it offers something far more textured than the usual formula
if youāre on the fence this is not a typical thriller itās sharper stranger and far less predictable
if you enjoy noir tones political tension and stories that arenāt afraid to linger in discomfort rather than resolve it neatly then this is absolutely worth your time
not sure why the reviews for this are so mixed because as an action lover I actually had a great time with it. its super fast-paced and really fun to watch for me it was mostly about the visuals which i thought were great. the story does feel a bit rushed and the plot isnāt anything extraordinary but honestly that didnāt bother me much i'm also a huge fan of the two actresses, so seeing them both on screen and sharing scenes was a big part of why i enjoyed it lol i loved their moments together but overall, it was just a really fun watch for me
so jcw falls for son ye jin then nana and also with han sun hwa ??
no he does not fall in love with all three of them. he only develops genuine feelings for Han Sun Hwa; his story with Son Yejin is based on manipulation and seduction, he engages in a game that involves seducing Nana but then he eventually falls in love with HSH, this is how the story goes in both the og novel and the movie ( : dangerous liaisons )
Out of all the episodes #9 and the last clips of the next episode to build up that "OMG Do Jun is going to lose…
he's been stuck with this whole auntie beef for two episodes now knowing he still has two uncles to take down and lets not forget the icing on cake which is taking down his cousin, no way they're wrapping everything up in 7 remaining episodes
male lead too arrogant it's time for him to realize his historical knowledge isn't enough anymore also min young's character is way too forced i'm sorry like no one cares about her nor her story, i will be very upset if they force a romance plot involving her down our throats
sunbin self harming so she can punish herself for catching feeling for the enemy was so painful to watch i really hope she gets her happy ending she's too hard on herself :/
dahyun was looking for her father Lee Jin Geun shows her the way to him and thats how they end up in the red gate house and they accidentally end up witnessing her father doing something to the missing sister (?), this theory makes sense to me since dahyun's mother also looks guilty about something related to the ML so that could be her husband being the culprit, + her and the grandma ending up killing him (because he was apparently an abuser as well)
