I wouldn't say love triangle but Kazami-san does say he likes Mikuri-san for quite a few episodes. I would say it depends on how you define real couple but they confirm their feelings for each other around Ep 9.
I think I got Takeshi and Masahiro mixed up since both men dated Azura but one was the father of her daughter…
Actually Maiko and Geiko do usually get dressed by men since the kimono layers are often heavy and binding the obi requires a lot of strength, hence the job is done by men called Otokoshi. They are the only men allowed in there.
The puns were low quality but I guess that is what they were going for. I actually really enjoyed the pace of this drama. I just got really annoyed at Episode 4. Did they really have to make this a false accusation sexual assault case >_>
Nogi Akikos dramas are always fun to watch. I love how there always is some form of social criticism in her works. I enjoyed Unnatural so I was happy to see some of the characters reappear. I usually get bored of cop dramas easily but this made you look forward to every single episode. Definitely worth watching!
For everyone who enjoyed the drama and is curious about behind the scenes stories, the production team will appear as guests in Hoshino Gens All Night Nippon Radio show tonight. It's live on youtube so everyone can watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwlnvTdpgcQ
My entry into dramas was wanting to listen to more Japanese since I had begun studying it at university. I got hooked to it with Boku no ita jikan (RIP Miura Haruma ;A;) which was the first Japanese drama I binged and got very emotional over. From then on it just got worse lol The biggest impact for me was definitely Nigehaji because it showed me how much progress a drama can portray (it eventually even led me to write my masters thesis about Japanese drama). I really enjoy how Japanese dramas feel just right. As for Korean dramas I often feel like they could have done with half the drama and it would've told the same story. But as for Japanese drama the length of 10 to 12 episodes just feels right. As mentioned in the article Japanese drama doesn't shy away from social issues and portraying stories of people that go a different way than the average Japanese person while still being relatable for the viewers. I'll stop here since I managed to write a whole thesis about dramas so if I rant more it might get too much. In short give Japanese drama a shot it's worth it!!!
