I might be the only one saying this but I get his stance on their relationship. It may seem cruel but he doesn’t…
the ML was the one that actually sought her out from the get go. Feng lei mentioned that the ML was looking for a perfect wife to help with his image and career. He did just that with the FL. When the FL met him pretending to be someone looking to work at his workshop, she only reaserched about him because she needed to know what he liked to be able to persuade him to the interview, she didn't even know he was rich until the second time they met and HE was the one tha invited her to the company, when she collasped and was taken to the hospital, he stayed with her even when she insisted it was no biggie, that he could leave - these and more gave the FL signs that he was kind and liked her for who she was.
Honsetly i feel the ML is a douche and he set himself honestly, from the get go he entered the relationship with ulterior motives, he lied and manipukated her multiple times (I would literally scream anytime he would give her a 'gift') she loved him because she thought he loved her and understood her. When he found out about her lying about her parents he didn't confront her because he didn't care, i bet he was even satisfied because he thought she was a lying ass like he is. He projets his own poisonous motives onto her.
Emperor's redemption arc was the weakest for me so far. It just felt so... incomplete. He was so abusive before…
You said it perfectly - His redemption arc was so weak! Like does he think handing him an imperial edict would make all the doubt and mistreatment he had towards NH go away - The writer needs to step up their game and make that man beg!
Sighs even tho uncle did a lot of wrong his love for nan heng is real. he was more of a father figure than the…
True, I was really touched and got teary eyed in the last scence before his death. He was really a father figure to NH. But he wasn't a really a good person, he wanted the best for NH but his way of getting it wasn't it at alll
The true villain in this entire show for me right now is undoubtedly that infuriating emperor. I genuinely cannot comprehend what kind of man he is. He’s an appalling father and a terrible ruler. It’s crazy.. how can anyone justify his actions?
We’re talking about a child. Even if NH was used or manipulated in some way, he was still just a child. And yet, the emperor chooses to hold that mistake over his head as if he were some political enemy. It’s utterly deranged. Honestly, every time the emperor appears on screen, it triggers something in me.
