He definitely dubbed himself. His Cantonese undertone is very heavy.
Coming from a Cantonese speaker, his Cantonese is definitely weaker based on the interviews he's done with Cantonese media. His Mandarin is a lot less accented compared to the general Cantonese populace but of course it doesn't come close to the standard Mandarin accent. A general Cantonese person speaking Mandarin could be a lot worse especially with the influence of the different Cantonese dialects
I am ready to see Empress/Emperor Yang Ying. Looks like they're gonna make her be the savior of Wu unless it's gonna be a real twist where she becomes a tyrant and turns against Yuanzhou and Ren Xin.
I get the feeling that the Princess is going to become empress, rule in her own right a la Wu Zetian but without the harem politics and instead as a competent lineal descendant. At least that's how it looks like in the trailer while the show is going to build up to that moment.
Also I have not watched a lot of dramas, I'm picky but is Chen Du Ling just relegated to small roles now? She's just picked up so many small roles all over the damn place.
I knew it! There was no way Shan Gudao was dead. Whoever that commented on my previous comment that pointed me in a different direction, that was sneaky of you. There are some cliches that you can just see coming. Regardless of those cliches this has just been one fun adventure to keep up with. I hope Li Lianhua and he passes down more of his martial arts to Fang Duobing.
I haven't read the novel, but I don't think this is the case. I'm more wary about Xiao Zijin, LHH's love rival…
Yeah, that character seems kinda sketchy too. There's just something off about the circumstances of Shan Gudao's death and the writers have definitely been trying to telegraph something to watchers.
I am not sure if this should be marked spoiler but for the people that read the novel, tell me if this is close. If there was an open betting pool on the ending and I put my life's savings onto the fact that Shan Gudao, Li Xiangyi's senior brother and Fang Duobing's uncle, is still alive and actually the mastermind of all this; would I be winning money? I am thoroughly enjoying this drama but I'm getting possible jealous martial brother vibes from this.
Mingyi gets a new concubine that he loves and makes him happy, but Derang loses his wife that truly loved him. Derang keeps getting the short end of the stick and along with how little he is part of the story now. Yanyan and Derang should not end up being happy together at the end or I hope that's not what they setting it up to be but that's probably going to be the ending huh.
EP 39-40:Xin Yi and Wuguli have no shame. Xin Yi did the deed and tried to frame Yan Yan but Wuguli blames Yan…
I agree with you how Mingyi is such a terrible person. Yanyan had her moment of being manipulative too. The two of them working together to get Derang to return to the capital was just pretty despicable. Mingyi's despicableness rubbed off on Yanyan and his lack of truth about getting a new concubine is unfortunate. I wonder how he dies but on Wikipedia it says he dies on a hunting trip so I wonder when's the next hunting trip.
They highlighted the wine when it was being delivered by the Empress' servant. If not the empress then who else?…
That is a speculation video right? My Mandarin is bad but it just seems like the guy was trying to pull evidence to make a guess. Kinda like what I was doing. With all the trouble (and manipulation) Mingyi has gone through to get Derang to come back to court, it seems kinda off. Hopefully the future episodes tell us who actually did it and Derang can get some revenge.
They highlighted the wine when it was being delivered by the Empress' servant. If not the empress then who else?…
They at least set up to look like she did it. If she did, I agree she is wicked. I also forgot Xiyin is back to his scheming ways so it's possible it could his setup. It's sad that Derang doesn't get any happiness in the way of family, but Yanyan gets a family and an emperor that at least did/still? loves her. It's just so unfair and I get the feeling that the ending is going to leave things unresolved at least for me.
WTH!!! Finished ep 38 and my heart is broken again and again for Han Derang.
They highlighted the wine when it was being delivered by the Empress' servant. If not the empress then who else? It's so sad that Derang just cannot have a stable relationship always subject to the intervention of others. It says that the Empress gets her happy ending in the description on Wikipedia but she does not deserve it if she just killed Derang's wife. Nobody deserves a happy ending except for Derang.
