Absolutely beautiful, mature, and heartbreaking. I think this is the best recommendation for fans of My Mister (which just so happens to be my favorite drama), it definitely gave me the same vibe specially because of the main character. I also personally prefer more serious, slice of life kind of dramas over rom coms, so I find it hard to find dramas with a serious storyline and romance in it. But this one really checks all of the boxes for me. Now in terms of the romance, the slow burn was definitely slow burning but it was worth it. Han Dongjin…that man… my God I wanted to cry because of how wonderful he was, I loved him so much he made me want to explode.
Still, however good this drama was, I can’t help but feel robbed of many scenes between the main couple. They would meet up or have a special moment and suddenly the scene would cut to much later in the day or the next day even and that bothered me so much because it left me wondering what happened during that moment. I just wanted to see more interactions between them, not necessarily them making out but them talking or holding hands to see their chemistry (not that they didn’t have any, of course they did, it was just so good it left me wanting more). There were also other few things that made me mad, like the main character’s sister’s behavior towards the last episodes of the show. I really couldn’t stand how childish she was at the beginning and then toward the end she starts bossing everyone around. Because let’s face it, Shim Woo Joo behaved much more like the oldest sibling throughout the whole story than her sister. I also felt like so many people backstabbed Shim Woo Joo, they revealed all of her secrets and didn’t let her be the one to confess and handle the situation. That made me very furious. Also, although I’m glad the ending was a happy one, a little interaction at the last scene would’ve been nice, in fact, one extra episode would’ve been perfect.
So yeah, overall very well made drama, I definitely think it deserves a higher rating than the one it has.
I’m… shocked. This was so well done, extremely romantic yet down to earth. It’s very refreshing to see dramas that show not only the “drama” itself but also explore the characters’ struggles with their careers. The characters were very mature, which is something I appreciate a lot specially when it comes to the FL. She was an actress yet not the full of herself/narcissistic cliché, she was kind, classy, smart and funny which is not something any writer (or actress for that matter) can pull off. Now that I think about it she’s probably on my top list of favorite female main characters from the dramas that I’ve watched so far. But honestly the entire cast did an amazing job. As for the romance let me just tell you that my face hurts from smiling so much, the last few episodes were so SWEET I wanted to die (in a good way). Anyways, highly recommend it.
If you haven’t watched this drama and you’re skeptical about watching it because of the reviews, please trust me and give it a try. It blows my mind how this drama has received so many bad reviews and comments and this precisely was the reason why I almost didn’t watch it, but I’m so glad I did it in the end. I personally loved this drama, the writing is great, the characters are mature and the storyline is romantic and simple yet different in a good way. I can’t help but compare it to other dramas out there that are far more cringy and boring, yet they have a high rating and receive a lot of praise. To me Nevertheless has a more realistic tone to it that makes it stand out from other dramas plus the actors were AMAZING. The chemistry between the main leads was off the charts and no one can tell me otherwise.
I’m not saying that this drama is 100% perfect nor am I guaranteeing you that you will love it. It really does come down to whether it fits your personal taste. All I’m saying is if you’re in the same position as I was, I highly suggest you watch it. You might not regret it.
I wish I could say I liked how it ended, but instead I'm angry. I was in love with Mu Cheng He's character and his relationship with Xue Tong in the beginning, but I have to admit I was rooting so hard for Liu Qi in the last episodes. It frustrates me that they made Mu Cheng He disappear and then give us this amazing Liu Qi who is so caring and loving towards Xue Tong. Making me fall in love with Liu Qi made me forget Mu Cheng He's relationship with Xue Tong, which prevented me from shipping them again. I feel like if Xue Tong and Liu Qui hadn't become a couple in the first place, I wouldn't be wishing she had ended up with the other guy.
