It is alright. The acting and fights scenes are good. The script needs work. Like modern Hollywood it]]the script is trying to do too much and forgets to tell a solid story without holes.

It is a big fuss about the cup because it was a gift from the Emperor, it leaving the palace and ending up in a pawn shop is pretty much a crime.

I think the issue with the ML's acting (Tang Fan?) is that it is too contrasting with everyone else. Tang Fan is acting in a comedy at times, when everyone else is acting in a period drama. He also acts a lot more immature than everyone else.

Yeah, the Duo'erla relationship seems to be missing some steps.

The Emperor spaces Ma Lin's life because he gave his word to Tang Fan and the Emperor's word is LAW. He is also an unrealistic benevolent emperor. Tang Fan is not used to the politics, so thinks, well he is out, no one will come after him. It was short sighted, and should have been pointed out to him.
