Half way through there's a big reveal and you may not like it, I would say if you start watching it and you don't like the first 4 eps this is not for you. Also I would advise you to take breaks as the episodes are long. LND is more of a slice of life and family melodrama rather than a rom-com. It portrays relationships and hardships in a realistic way. It also explores the side characters a lot more than other dramas which I think keeps the plot interesting, the side couples have cute romances. Important to note: the leads don't get together until episode 11.

I may have different opinions on what makes a drama great. My focus is on acting, character development, plot progression, and storyline. I rate dramas based on these criteria, with bonus points if they evoke emotion. Dramas with superfluous kissing scenes, shallow romance, poor storytelling, and an underwhelming / underdeveloped plot + one dimensional characters do not appeal to me.
This is my personal opinion however, I understand and respect that people have different tastes. Personally, I never ship actors in real life. I think that’s parasocial, intrusive and not to mention weird when they’re just doing their jobs — acting. As a mere watcher or fan, it is not my place to try to dictate their choices. I could however, criticize but once again, thats not my business and only they know the truth. In the rare case that some actors are fortunate to develop an offscreen romance, I support them because they are happy but at the end of the day it really isn’t my business what actors do in their personal lives.
In my perspective, not everyone may appreciate this drama as it requires a specific understanding and perception, but I liked it. Personal bias with actors is not a factor in my ratings; I aim to be fair and evaluate dramas objectively and comprehensively. I watched almost every episode on x2 bc otherwise I would’ve been losing my mind. This is definitely a drama I never want to rewatch ever again.

I know this is just a drama but I truly don’t think people recognize the pressure that’s put on women especially in real life to be perfect or to behave in socially acceptable ways. They complain about getting vapid one dimensional FLs in other dramas but when they finally get one who’s complex it’s an issue. Like can we please just allow women to exist? Seok Ryu, despite her flaws, is simply a human being, experiencing life for the first time. Mind you she is still recovering from a near-death experience with cancer. She should be allowed to be carefree / “childish” and bring happiness into her life. Let's give women the space to just be themselves.
Also I think the person might be looking at her from a western perspective and that’s why they think she’s “childish”. In SK it is understood that this is how most women behave especially with their friends / significant others.

Lmao that's too kind of you! 🥹 But also it's really not that hard to empathize with her character. I feel like some people genuinely only take the story at face value and refuse to look deeper... bc Seok Ryu is actually a very complex character, she has a lot of layers and walls she put up to protect herself. It's crazy how some people like to downplay women's struggles and degrade them at every step of the way. If they refuse to see how resilient Seok Ryu is then it's on them. You just get itttt! 🤍
