I prefer Gank Your Heart over Go Go Squid because the everything seems to be more balanced in this drama. While I got secondhand embarassement for both female leads at the beginning of the series, them being naive and not knowledgeable about e-sports world, GYH is able to resonate with me better. FL's career development also contributes a lot in the story, compared to in GGS where it doesn't make any difference whether the FL is singer or programmer or anything.
For the male leads, both are the typical handsome, cool, genius type of guy--but there is big differrence on how others perceive them. GGS's male lead is just plain 'gaming god', whereas GYH's male lead is 'misunderstood genius'. I find this characterization quite novel.
I also appreciate that GYH takes time unfolding the enemies to lovers troupe. It just make sense if they are falling for each other since they are same type of person at their core.
Nowadays people are indeed overly sensitive with cultural appropriation issues. Still, being completely ignorant is not the proper attitude either. As far as I know, Chinese is very proud of being Chinese and they are currently banning any Korean products.
I don't know whether the problem has aroused by the time you posted the comment above, but now China and South Korea are having political disputes to the point China bans any Korean product. So, it's indeed inappropriate for you to use Korean language to refer a Chinese, especially since Chinese are known for their nationalism.
This adorable kid really left deep impression on me that it didn't feel like he only acted for 3 out of 36 episodes. Oh, I think I'm very rude. I should call him 'this fantastic actor' instead.
It's a weak drama. The story has no depth nor originality. I know they aimed at cliche sweet fluffy romance, but hey, at least please have some interesting twist and turn! The acting doesn't help at all. Main CP both have no facial expression for most of times. Second CP is a lot more enjoyable.
