She had a breakdown where she stayed inside for 3 days because of a dating rumor. She hadn’t actually interacted with him for decades. Textbook para social relationship.

Either that, or crisis spurred by the evil SFL’s brother and her. He was talking about ‘going after a bigger fish’ and having to ‘debone it’ in eps 6

Oh my gosh, I was about to be so mad and then the end of the episode came!

Oh I agree, they made her very frustrating 😆 I just don’t think she is clueless. The whole Seon U storyline could have used more backstory, because it is unclear if he has always been a friend who helps her, if it is something that happened after his divorce, or a more recent thing. That, coupled with the fact she expects him to act like her husband makes it unclear if she realizes what his feelings mean. He absolutely is being portrayed as acting increasingly jealous though.

Maybe - or maybe not. Because there are a lot of places to go from here, especially with the introduction of the clearly malicious brother. Will they leave it, or will they move on to both the ML and the SFL fighting their families for their relationships and fighting against ruin at the hands of the new brother?

No shes not - she is intentionally trying not to acknowledge her feelings. From the beginning, she has had low self confidence and a lot of personal problems. However, she cries when she wakes up in the hospital and clearly is not running away or confused when the ML gets close to her. She thinks she doesn’t deserve him, and the pressure of needing that job or losing their home just adds more reason for her intentional feigned innocence.

It seems like he doesn’t like picking roles where he is the pure good guy. In Atypical Family he was a depressed, emotionally abusive alcoholic.

He is definitely going for it, his increasing possessiveness and restrained jealousy is how he is doing it. Which is completely the wrong way to do it, and completely realistic at the same time

Because they see themselves in him. The underdog winning the prize is a feel good pattern as old as storytelling. The more you live, the more you understand that it is just a story about the exception and not realistic. And they are feeling betrayed because they wanted to keep living in that fantasy with new dramas, but the writer is not bending.

Maybe they just lack the real world experience to truly understand that the SML is driven by selfishness and delusion. Especially if they like to watch a lot of dramas where the SML does end up getting what they want in the end. It is a fantasy they haven’t had broken for them yet.

Conversely, I was watch the first 6 episodes waiting for this kind of moment to happen, because a vanilla tropey drama did not seem like a role Jang Ki-Yong would take.

But it is a very real situation - not being able to have the person you want. I actually applaud the writer for the unapologetic portrayal of a dynamic that is not at all uncommon in real life. The SML views this as his last chance to get her to like him, and has decided to selfishly go after it despite clearly knowing how much ML and FL like each other. Underneath the tropes, there are some very raw realities.

Not yet, we get much darker first. The preview for 8 seems to point to a resolution to this part of the storyline though

Considering recent past roles Jang Ki-Yong has taken, the first 6 episodes I was somewhat wondering why he took the role. Episode 7 was the ‘ahhh there is the reason’ moment. It is a very real life, but uncomfortable, situation, which is the kind of role he has been moving towards for awhile.

Jaehyun entered military service November 4th, 2024 and won’t be back until May 2026. Either they replace the ML and start over, or its on hold until he is discharged :/

You should watch it before commenting. She kissed him out of nowhere completely unprompted by anything he did. In fact, through a majority of the drama, he is faithfully dating someone else.

She’s not a high schooler. She’s 22.
