What are you about even? His Happiness was a resounding success, Soundtrack#1 jump started Disney's K-drama line and Our Blooming Youth is one of Viki's one of most watched dramas. And Doctor Slump dominated Netflix for ten straight weeks. He is an actor par excellence.
This series is a complete mess. It's like durian fruit. Beautiful to look at but smelly from inside. Terrible story telling, juvenile direction and senseless plot twists. Every frame is targeted to milk the tear glands of the gullible audience. The only good thing is the brother - but the makers manage to screw his arc in the end too. But, the leads are beautiful and fill the screen with their perfect visage. Terminal cancer? What's that? After watching 16 hours of incessant crying....I need some therapy (OK 15-1/2; I could not digest any more to I ffed the last half. )
This is a true blue rom com. It delivers what it promises. It takes a very serious matter, and carries the message right till the end. A wonderful watch that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling at the end. Good performances by everyone, but a very special mention for Park Shin Hye - she aced it. Park Hyung Sik of course never disappoints. Personally I love his serious modes but he delivers on every count. Well done.
About ep 12, I also felt like Ha Neul was too uncharacteristicly stupid to get into the car and show him all the…
Actually her not not letting JW knows does make sense because he has consistently told her he does not want to know because it would crumble the last of his illusions about having any kind of support while growing up. I do not know how JW does not have abandonment issues. Every damned person he has loved has let him down.
Ummmm, I've been able to watch it on Netflix in the US since it started airing.
Thanks so much for following up! I forgot to update this. A day after my complaint it had shown up in the Coming Soon list. I hope you are enjoying it. I’m absolutely loving it.

I'm very happy for him, I think that after military service his acting is very much improved
He definitely matured, but he was A class even before that. His acting genius already showed roots in Heirs, but the nuanced performance in Suits truly showcased his range and brilliance in developing a character. He outshone almost everyone, most of them veterans, in Suits. Happiness and Our Blooming Youth cements it (OBY is indeed the best performance by any male leads by miles).
The show starts with two young twins (a very young Park Hyung Sik in a powerful capture of two completely different characters with the same face) getting into a situation where the tougher teen ends up accidentaly murdering his twin's bully. (Park Hyung Sik successfully switches between the two characters - one timid and the other tough, just with the way he uses his eyes and voice - already showing the promise as the great actor he is on his way to become)
I almost feel sad when the Hyung Sik's charcter grows up and becomes So Jun Young but the narrative is lovely and you soon grow used to the new face. If done today, Hyung Sik would chew these two characters and then some, but oh well.... I digress. So Jun Young is strictly OK as the grown up twins, no where near as impressive as his younger counterpart, but the story is told very well (all he does is to scream as Shin Wo, in contrast to the tonal difference Hyung Sik brings to the character as a teen).
Watch out for Hyung Sik's outburst as the timid teen in the beginning of the final episode - it's brilliant, makes you tear up effortlessly, and it's even more amazing because as an audience you marvel at the fact that he can actually better it today. The pathos of an unwanted child beutifully potrayed. Hyung Sik does more for this character in these few minutes than Jun Young does in the entire series).
The drug trfficking part is pretty routine, but the interweaving of the twins and their internal struggle with each other is what keeps this going. Give it watch, especially for Park Hyung Sik and the overall story arc.
