This is ...mediocre, at best. The leads essentially have very little chemistry (which granted does get a little better towards the end), and the ML is awfully written.
The fact that there wasn't anywhere close to enough content for 28 episodes is very apparent. The kid has too much screentime in an attempt to cover that up, but that only goes so far.
Additionally, Mary / Ma Xin Rui's character appears to have a mental age of 12. You'll miss very little by blanket skipping all her scenes.
This is a arc based show, it's grossly incorrect to call Song Yi the FL here. Every arc essentially has a different leading lady. I suspect the only reason this isn't a harem is because the Chinese censor board went "No u!"
For the people saying the webnovel's a mess: surprise! The show is too.
Never seen a show where the FL is as redundant as this one. It'd have a better story without her in it, period. It was impossible to tell why the dude was simping for her that hard after all the physical abuse.
SFL was a much better leading lady, but that also wouldn't be enough to redeem this travesty.
This is pretty much hot garbage, mostly OK start but it was very obvious 5-6 episodes in that the writers were out of material and it gets tropey fast.
Some girl drags the ML into the toilet of a crowded office for a screaming match, which then leads to misunderstandings? Straight to the early 2000s with this rubbish. At least try to make it believable 👎
(No spoiler tags, that's not much of a spoiler. Show's got plenty more where that came from ;|)
The first 3 episodes (of S1) showed such potential, I don't remember being that excited for a TV show in a long, long time.
Too bad they squandered it all with some trashy interpersonal drama arc for the next 5 episodes. The "ビッチ" (yes, gj if you got it) arc was super dumb and I cared for absolutely none of the characters.
Every single attempt to appeal to emotions (omg so and so was such close to so and so) was silly, there simply wasn't enough time for viewers to develop connections of that sort for (and care about) anyone.
ML is a grade A loser. That problem is only helped by the fact that the SML is an even bigger loser.
Next we have the rampant emotional cheating going on throughout all 12 episodes from pretty much everyone (funny how the SFL is the only character not participating in that charade).
30 year olds with the emotional maturity of teenagers = decidedly uncute. The nine suns gimmick worked to sustain it for a while, but the repeated brown nosing into indecisive teenagers' affairs got old fast.
Taiwanese TV revels in peddling frustration, all 12 episodes of this have plenty of it (judiciously use your skip button). Overall, an OK watch -- but that's all it is.
A solid 5.5 perhaps.

If you turn your brain off, this isn't /too bad/. But it isn't that great either.
All that being said, watermelon supremacy.

The King of Spades arc was bad, with most of the stunts borderline hilarious. Mira / Riisa Naka is the obvious standout though, what a performance.
This is basically almost a shounen anime lol

Solid 7, and a good attempt at making one of the most boring sports around (high jumping) seem interesting.
