Title Twenty Five Twenty One Spoiler
Same! That scene with Seungwan had me second guessing. Even when Yijin now as an anchor wanted to remove question…
Yesss I was gonna mention that scene as well because that made alarm bells ring in my head. Also Heedo going "someone told me my left side is prettier" when she was getting ready to be interviewed by Yijin after her Madrid win

Title Twenty Five Twenty One Spoiler
Okay so I'm usually really into sad/open endings but this wasn't it imo. Given the theme of this drama, it was only fitting that they break up and never get back together, and tbh I was actually okay with this since episode 15 did such as amazing job of giving us all these happy memories of their relationship and so blatantly showing us why it was time they both let go, so we could understand and have closure and let go as well. It wasn't breaking up for the sake of it, but because it was the right thing to do. And I'm here for it.
But the last episode had so much build up, I found myself spending the entire episode trying to find clues of whether they end up together or not. I picked up even the smallest things (e.g., Seungwan asking Yijin if he wants to know about his ex-girlfriend made me think maybe she's referring to Heedo like that because Heedo is Yijin's wife now, hence his ex lmao). And I believe that's what most of us found ourselves doing as well which is why I couldn't really appreciate any of the scenes and the emotions of them being so mean to each other, then finding their way back to apologise and finally meeting at the end to send each other off . It didn't feel as strong or deep to me. I mean, how much more tears I would've shed if I knew, while watching Yijin tie Heedo's shoelaces and cry quietly at her feet, that this was the last time they meet. I spent the entire episode for the "big reveal" that never came.
I understand what they were going for. This drama has been beautiful and delicate and subtle and they wanted to keep that till the end, but I believe just for the overall impact of the last episode, it would've been better if we knew early on.

Title The King's Affection Spoiler
Idk about ya'll but I'm getting so much catharsis from Lee Hwi. It is genuinely refreshing watching a character…
Okay one example being episode 7. We see the envoy disrespecting and hurting one of Hwi's closest people, and then Hwi proceeds to run upto him and punch the shit out of him in pure blind rage. This act in itself is such a "masculine" behaviour according to society. But Hwi doesn't perform it under the 'pretence' of the crown prince. This act comes naturally from within Hwi. I just love how this character is showing the effects of upbringing on personality and, as I said before, challenging societal perceptions of biological differences between the genders

Idk about ya'll but I'm getting so much catharsis from Lee Hwi. It is genuinely refreshing watching a character who isn't just cross-dressing for the sake of it, but is actually written to challenge the supposed differences in nature and disposition between men and women as assumed by society. Imo it's so amazingly portrayed that Hwi grew up as the crown prince so that part of them is inextricable from their character, so they're not pretending or playing the part of a man/someone else, and are still very much themselves.

I have too many thoughts and emotions about Hwi and Jiwoon's characters and this drama in itself. I hope I get eloquent enough to actually explain how amazing I've found them to be and grown to love them. Lmao can't believe I'm writing another essay in a comment section again

Title Squid Game Spoiler
It was when Joon Ho's mom called him to tell that In ho hadn't called or was not in touch from few days then how…
Okay here's my theory. I think Inho was basically what Gihoon became after he won. He probably got traumatised and didn't touch his money. And then maybe years later he wanted revenge so he found them out again and somehow ended up the front man. I mean, he shot his own brother that he had given his kidney to. So it's probably a game you can't escape once you become part of it. Which is why he comes on the phone in the last episode and warns Gihoon to give up and fly to the US, since he knows Gihoon might end up like him too (lmao bet this whole essay would be flipped if they make a s2)

Title Wong Wien Hua Jai Spoiler
Tbh this should have a stockholm syndrome tag because I have no idea when, how and why the female lead started liking the male lead. The ml (supposedly) raped her, then imprisoned her in his home against her will, and constantly physically (sexually) and mentally abused her. My issue is not with what the ml did because this is a lakorn and ik what I signed up for when I started it. My issue is that they made this into a comedy and completely disregarded the fl's trauma.

Example of a more sensible plot: in Kleun Cheewit the ml thinks the fl killed his finacee so he does absolutely awful things to her as revenge and through multiple (and I mean multiple) occurrences where the fl almost dies trying to save him, the ml finally softens up to her.

Ik it's a lakorn and there's gonna be shady stuff happening but don't just blatantly ignore the psychological consequences that follow said shady stuff.
On Something about 1 Percent Jul 20, 2021
I didn't enjoy this drama at all. The main lead is overbearing and controlling and has anger issues. He keeps (physically) dragging the female lead around everywhere, threatens to grab her if she doesn't comply and kisses her without consent, all this while they've known each other like a week. None of this shit is cute at all. I understand that it's all dramatised because it's a kdrama but how in the world is this romance? Being rude because of an enemies-to-lovers arc is one thing, but this is just awful behaviour. I would never want to be treated this way.

Very rare to see a kdrama have such a perfect ending (regardless of whether it's happy or sad). Usually the last…
It was a very meaningful and happy ending. All the characters were treated with such respect because they all got closure. I absolutely love how I don't have to wonder "but what happened to this character, are they doing okay?". I am so very satisfied with this kdrama
On My Roommate Is a Gumiho Jul 16, 2021
Very rare to see a kdrama have such a perfect ending (regardless of whether it's happy or sad). Usually the last few episodes just drag on unnecessarily but this was a delight to watch from beginning to end. Props to the cast and writers for successfully keeping it interesting while still fun and light throughout.

So I don't really understand the post-credit scene. We know that OZ has the recording of the brain transplant…
Yeah that makes sense. Thank you!

Okay can someone explain a scene that I'm a bit confused about?
So I don't really understand the post-credit scene. We know that OZ has the recording of the brain transplant surgery performed on JBR. So that was the video playing in the scene right? But who was the person on the operating table? And what was this whole scene about?

Thank you to anyone who's kind enough to explain this to me

Title Prison Playbook Spoiler
I did... I also didn't like how Captain Yoo's homophobia was simply brushed over. Like he threatened Han Yang…
Ok so here's a hot take. You can completely disagree but this is just my interpretation of the story so I thought you might be interested in a different pov. I think the drama tried to portray the different ways people react to LGBTQ+ people in real life. There's guard Paeng who was instantly accepting when he found out. Joonho and Jehyuk who were a bit apprehensive at first and then were like "yeah whatever it's his choice" and Captain Yoo who was just wildly homophobic. I think they sort of maybe wanted to make an example out of Captain Yoo. If his opinions about homosexuality had changed later in the story, homophobic audience might have been like "oh it's because they spent so much time together that they grew on each other but I could never be accepting of that lifestyle". But they never really showed if Captain Yoo's opinions had changed. Instead we see him running to help Hanyang or just playing around with him or asking for his advice, and it's sort of subtly saying that no matter what your opinions about a person may be, it doesn't change the fact that they're still a human being and it shouldn't stop you from treating them like one. Maybe it's like very specifically targeted to a certain culture/audience. Ik it's a weird take and maybe I'm putting too much meaning into it. Trust me, I hated this whole situation at first too, but when I thought about it, this is the only explanation I could come up with, since otherwise this is one of my favourite dramas.
On The School Nurse Files Nov 17, 2020
Okay I'm only writing this because of the low rating. Please please please watch this. It's unique, fun, bizarre and unlike anything korean dramas have ever gone for in the past. Perhaps one of my favourite series I've ever watched. The plot, the actors, the cinematography, the editing, everything is so so amazing. Don't expect anything, sit back and just let this kdrama take you on a ride. You will not be disappointed. This was an absolute delight and I sincerely hope it doesn't end up being a "hidden gem" because it deserves better.

Hi there. Ik I'm late but what's the plothole you're referring to? It's such a fun drama and I wanna know what…
Yeah, that's the only explanation I could come up with as well, that he must've just wanted to break the ice and thought asking for a charger would be a nice conversation starter. It's funny because we were so into the story that even we started to doubt everyone and everything.
Yeah that's true, I wish they would do something a bit more interesting with him rather than just letting him die. Maybe he could've alerted the cops or something before dying. Or even just run away and completely get off the grid out of fear. I feel like for me it sort of lost the whole psychological aspect by the end, after it became clear that Dong Wook's character is sort of forcing everyone to do this with him. But it was still a pretty amazing show
