It might be a reference to the classic wuxia story Bai Fa Mo Nv (bride with white hair). About how the groom betrayed the FL on their wedding night and her hair became white from the overwhelming grief. After which she set up some sort of assassination cult and became known to the pugilistic world as a demoness. Notice how the backstory are kinda similar between the 2? Just a trivia, this story is so classic that the character Sindel from Mortal Kombat was partially inspired by that character.
