A haunting yet poetic tale of when a king falls in love
An incredibly heartbreaking but beautiful story of sacrifice and devotion. It is a realistic portrayal of how it is to love a king when you are of lesser position. Sorrowful OST and profound acting. All the supporting characters had well-rounded backstories.
It's so obvious how Deok-Im and Yi San are in love with each other but the palace politics and her desire to maintain independence halted it from progressing. When they ultimately did ended up together, it is not a celebration but a happy condemnation.
It was a humorous beginning but ended up in a true tear-jerker. The tears would not end for the woman in love with a man who had everything but was not able to gave her the one thing she desired, his entire self.
