That scene is from chapter 32 after FFB takes XY from her wedding ceremony with Feng Long. It has not been covered…
"You may have a point about her struggle being about Fangfeng Bei and Xiang Liu instead. I never quite saw it that way. For me, it still indicates a longing she has buried deep down, unwilling to acknowledge even to herself. "
To clarify, I don't think her resistance to answering the last question is because of a struggle to pick between FFB and XL. I was suggesting that Tong Hua might have intentionally distinguished between TSJ and YSQ to remind readers that XL also has an alternate identity that XY prefers, and that her heart might feel that she wants to spend her entire life with the version of XL that was free from war and obligations to the remnant army and Gong Gong, even if her mind wouldn't let her even think about it.
Reposting but not as a reply to another comment, as requested:
S2 was supposed to have 35 episodes as of the beginning of August. Then in early August it sounded like a decision was made so that S2 would have 21 episodes. Right now (after LYF S2 got licensing approval) it is not clear whether S2 will have 21 episodes or 35 episodes.
From Koala: "Well the first good news is that Part 2 has received it’s airing permit, hooray! But will it be the earlier announced 35-episodes or the later rumored cut down significantly 21-episodes that got approved there is no definitive word. If it does get cut down I guess fans really need to read the novel if you haven't already in order to fill in some blanks, otherwise the drama will feel like it's time skipping or some context is missing in plot development." https://koalasplayground.com/2023/09/11/lost-you-forever-part-2-receives-airing-permit-unclear-as-to-the-episode-length-or-airing-date/
Hi Xiao Meiren. I think the sources are helpful for others to understand the timing of these announcements and where things currently stand, but I'm happy to delete my reply to your comment and to post them elsewhere if you prefer.
The concern is that they used 39 episodes to cover the first 28 chapters of the novel, so every chapter got a little less than 1.4 episodes worth of screen time.
But they might be covering the last part of chapter 28, all of chapters 29 - 51, and XL's epilogue (so more than 24 chapters of content) with just 21 episodes, which means that the remaining chapters will each get less than 0.875 of an episode's worth of screen time. That's a huge difference and means that the drama likely won't follow the novel nearly as closely in S2.
From what we've heard about the leaked S2 script, they did make some significant changes.
That scene is from chapter 32 after FFB takes XY from her wedding ceremony with Feng Long. It has not been covered…
Oh well that's very interesting! Yes, Koala's translation is from the 2013 version, so that could definitely be a 2019 version addition.
It looks like she not only made XY not wanting to marry Feng Long more explicit, but also added the distinction between wanting to marry TSJ (no answer, struggling to wake up) vs. wanting to marry YSQ (a clear yes).
I have to assume that Tong Hua made the change with the intent of also making the meaning of XY's resistance to answering the last question clearer.
But was she trying to suggest that XY's hesitation in answering the last question is related to the distinction between TSJ and YSQ? As in, just like she didn't answer when XL asked if she wanted to marry TSJ, she resists answering the question about who she would most like to spend her entire life with because she has conflicted feelings about TSJ's identity and current circumstances? In the 2013 version, I always felt like the answer to the last question that her heart felt (and that her mind wouldn't let her say) probably wasn't TSJ or YSQ because of how easily she answered the marriage question, but with these changes that becomes less clear.
Or is the change (highlighting the distinction between TSJ and YSQ) meant to make us think of the similar distinction between XL and FFB and think that XY's heart probably feels that she would like to spend her entire life with FFB, but her mind is reminding her that FFB is "dead" and actually XL and of all the reasons why spending her entire life with FFB or XL wouldn't work?
Now I really want to read a full translation of the 2019 version.

Lol nathsketch I was going to say "it's working for me" but reconsidered. It's not the healthiest approach. I've lost some sanity along the way, but I've enjoyed the ride.
An advice I wish someone had given me: pick your dude and watch his best moments on YouTube. Yes, Yang Zi should…
^ That's one option. Alternatively you can binge watch the whole drama, binge read the whole novel, and then obsessively re-watch and re-read both until S2 comes out. I like the novel ending and where (and with whom) everyone ends up, and I think having full context helped a lot.
I'm halfway through the drama but am still a bit confused with the different families. Chen Rong Xin Yue and Chishui…
From the novel (switch "Sheng Nong" to "Chenrong" for the drama):
Ru So and Xiao Liu remained calm and Xiao Liu said quietly “It sounds so complicated. This Miss Sheng Nong Xing Yue is the direct descendant of the Sheng Nong royal family bloodline, then how come her older brother is the next Chi Sui clan leader?”
Ru So quietly explained, “Little Zhu Rong married the only daughter of the current Chi Sui clan leader. Her name is Chi Sui Xiao Ye. The Chi Sui clan leader is not just Little Zhu Rong’s father-in-law, he’s also his uncle. Little Zhu Rong sees him as a second father and he agreed that if later on he had two kids, a son would be given to the Chi Sui clan and take their name. His wife had a pair of male-female fraternal twins so the older brother was born the future leader of the Chi Sui clan and grew up beside his grandfather the current clan leader."
In Ep 33, when Xiaoyao woke up, what was the significance of leaving her tears for xiang liu?And did it turn into…
According to rumours about the S2 script, XY won't poison herself to death so XL won't be saving her from death again and won't need to create the blood-magic clam shell that preserves her life until he gets there. And XL apparently isn't involved in saving TSJ's life, so he won't be creating the blood jewel either.
In Ep 33, when Xiaoyao woke up, what was the significance of leaving her tears for xiang liu?And did it turn into…
That scene played out differently in the novel. Instead of crying three tears that XL turns into a pearl and keeps, XY thinks to herself that XL kept her in a clam shell like a pearl, and later she cries tears that do not turn into anything. We'll have to wait until S2 airs to find out the significance of that change.
In the novel, pearls are mentioned a few times but only once in connection with tears. And in that case they are only "like" pearls, not actual pearls. When they are mentioned, it's usually in connection with love, courting or marriage.
There is a scene near the end of the novel where XL uses XY's blood to create a jewel with an important purpose, but rumours about the leaked S2 script have said that he won't be creating and using that jewel in the drama. In the novel, XY uses her blood to create a pill with a similar purpose, and apparently that's all that is needed / used in the drama.

Chapter 22:
When Xiao Yao woke up, she felt the warm sun on her body and she subconsciously turned over to keep on sleeping. Suddenly she opened her eyes in disbelief. She laid there in a daze and then slowly raised her hand up.
Oh! She really could move!
“Xiang Liu!” Xiao Yao sat up but then her head bumped into something hard and she saw stars.
No one answered her and she saw a sliver of sunlight trickling in from outside. Xiao Yao felt that she was inside some sort of shell and she used her hands to feel the surface above her head and her sides. The sides slowly opened like flower petals until instantly Xiao Yao was bathed in sunlight.
Only someone trapped by darkness before would understand that sunlight was the world’s most ordinary yet precious treasure! The sunlight stung her eyes but she was reluctant to close her eyes. She faced the sunlight and slowly stood up and let out a happy holler.
After she calmed down, Xiao Yao noticed that she was wearing a loose fitting white robe and was standing on a large open clam shell. She was surrounded by endless ocean and the waves crested against the clam shell and sprayed up white foam.
All these years, Xiang Liu placed her in the middle of a clam shell to sleep in the ocean. Xiao Yao couldn’t contain her smile, didn’t that make her like a pearl hidden inside a clam shell?
Xiao Yao put her hands around her mouth and yelled “Xiang Liu! Xiang Liu! Where are you? I’m awake!”
A white and gold condor descended but without Xiang Liu on his back.
Xiao Yao stroked its back “Furball, where is your master?”
Furball flapped his wings and called towards the sky once, as if urging Xiao Yao to get on his back.
Xiao Yao happily asked, “Xiang Liu asked you to bring me to see him?
Furball shook his head.
Xiao Yao quizzically asked, “Xiang Liu asked you to take me home?”
Furball nodded his head.
Whether Xiang Liu had matters to attend to or he was purposely avoiding seeing her, Xiao Yao stood there in a dumbstruck daze, the initial happiness of regaining life and light disappearing like receding waves.
Furball pecked Xiao Yao’s hand to urge her to hurry up.
Xiao Yao climbed on Furball’s back and it rose into the air and flew towards the Middle Plains.
Xiao Yao stared at the passing ocean surface as it rushed past her like a shooting arrow, disappearing behind her. The feelings in her heart were so jumbled.
The next morning, Furball landed outside Zhi Yi Castle and Xiao Yao knew many people would recognize Xiang Liu’s winged ride and knew Furball could only take her as far as here.
For whatever reason, Xiao Yao’s heart was filled with an endless ache. She suddenly grabbed Furball’s neck tightly and Furball squirmed in annoyance but didn’t really put up a fuss. It cocked its head and endured with a sigh.
Xiao Yao buried her face in Furball’s neck as her tears came tumbling down, one after another, falling silently on Furball’s feathers and disappearing.
Furball finally got fed up and impatiently called out once.
Xiao Yao raised her head and the tears were gone from her eyes. She slid off Furball’s back and patted him “Go back to your master!”
Furball ran a few steps and then flew into the air. Xiao Yao raised her head to watch it fly away until it was completely gone from her sight.

Chapter 26:
Xiao Yao suddenly stopped and strained to listen as a melodic singing drifted to her, so beautiful even her soul was quaking, it was a sound not to be heard in the world above. But Xiao Yao remembered that she heard it before.
Xiang Liu said “That’s….”
“The mating song of the merpeople.” ...
Xiao Yao “Can we go sneak a peek at them?”
Xiang Liu had a look of discomfort for the first time ever.
Xiao Yao pleaded “I’ve never seen a merperson, and if I miss this chance who knows when I’ll get another chance.”
Xiang Liu reached out his hand “They are very alert things, I need to mask your presence.”
Xiao Yao took his hand and slowly swam behind him.
Xiao Yao saw them.
The merpeople had the body of a person and the tail of a fish. The mermaid had thick lustrous hair like seaweed, brilliant gem-like eyes, snow white skin, beautiful and exotic; the merman was comparatively ugly but strongly built with thick chest muscles and arms, very powerful. He was raising a giant clam shell above him while chasing the mermaid and singing his song. The mermaid ran from him but sang back, fast and swift she darted so the merman couldn’t touch her.
In the pursuit, the mermaid appeared to be moved and slowed down. The merman opened his giant clam shell and inside was a purple pearl the size of a fist glowing brightly.
The mermaid smiled and swam into the clam shell and picked up the pearl and happily sang to it. She appeared to have accepted the merman and was praising him.
The merman also swam into the clam shell and embraced the mermaid before enthusiastically kissing her. Their tails intertwined and was rhythmically thumping.
....
Xiao Yao curiously asked “Why did the merman carry a giant clam shell?”
“The clam shell is their home, and the larger the clam shell the harder to catch, so the mermen display their strength in wooing the mermaids to mate by displaying their catch. They mate in the clam shell and bear their offspring there. The pearl inside is actually the innards of the clam shell demons, and will become the food fed to the baby merchildren.”
Xiao Yao remembered when she was asleep for thirty-seven years, it was inside a giant clam shell. She didn’t pay attention after she woke up but she remembered it was all white, and there seemed to be wave pattern ridges along the edges. She didn’t remember how big it was though. Xiao Yao wanted to ask Xiang Liu but was too embarrassed to bring it up. She now regretted not carefully observing the clam shell she slept in for thirty-seven years to see what it looked like.
Xiang Liu noticed Xiao Yao was saying nothing but her face was gradually turning red again.

Xiao Yao rested inside the sea shell like a precious pearl. After the Royal Mother checked on her, she noted that the blood magic written on the sea shell was a magic to extend Xiao Yao’s life. How did Zhuan Xu get a hold of such priceless treasure?
…Royal Mother didn’t want to say any more. “I can’t say for certain but I know that Xiao Yao’s body is not afraid of water. Xiao Yao has stopped breathing, if it wasn’t for this special sea shell then her heart would have also stopped. Putting her in the lake will only do her good.”
…
The all white sea shell was open with ridges along the edges like waves, under the pearl light it appeared Xiao Yao was sleeping on white waves, her expression peaceful with a small smile as if she was having a lovely dream.
…
Sir Bi finished placing Xiao Yao in the raft before turning back to Xiang Liu and warmly gesturing to the all-white seashell “Seeing the seashell, even the Royal Mother marveled at the careful thought that went into preparing it to keep Xiao Yao alive. I asked Zhuan Xu’s servant and heard it was a treasure from the Gao Xing Palace repository. Tonight I realized that you made it, otherwise you could not have revived Xiao Yao this quickly.

Chapter 46:
Xiang Liu silently stared at the blood in the urn as the ripples spread out.
...
He could see clearly the glistening blood inside, beautiful in its power. He stretched his palms forward and conjured up power, a blue green light glowed around him like stars and the urn gradually got smaller and smaller until it became a blood red jewel the size of a pigeon’s egg. Xiang Liu held it in his hand, and turning the blood into a jewel appeared to have sapped Xiang Liu of his power and his face was pale and his hands shook. He closed his eyes and pursed his lips, and after some time he was able to make a call that only the water tribes could hear.
And #3 is so wrong but so absurd it’s hilarious.
I’m going to assume Hunter is gleefully trolling us.
