"Maybe you should go for romance and cringy comedy stuff... This more for mature people it tackles society. Your mind is to small to understand"
What an unnecessarily rude thing to say. You have different opinions about a drama. A mature person would not be so offended by that, and would not reply with such a rude comment. Mydramalist users should feel free to express their opinions politely without having other users respond like this.
I love both actors and I was quite looking forward to this period drama, especially after watching Netflix's last period kdrama Mr. Sunshine. Unfortunately, apart from the FL's singing voice (which was truly beautiful) and one or two scenes, this drama just missed the mark. I didn't feel the romance between the leads, the power of their writing, the highs when they were happy, or the tragic lows when they were suffering. It felt like things unfolded mechanically and I was generally uncomfortably aware that I was watching actors instead of becoming absorbed in the story.
On top of an unsatisfying relationship between the leads, there also wasn't any kind of poignant final action related to the Japanese occupation. The patriotic themes set out early on fizzled out disappointingly. There was no satisfying or thought provoking take away. The final words on the screen failed to be deep. Even the soundtrack was underwhelming. Overall? Disappointing.
Yes, prepare yourself. There is no skinship whatsoever. Unless you count the hugs between layers of fur jackets.…
Very strange! It must be a bug. Maybe because of the text symbols I used? I clicked edit to remind myself what I wrote and it shows my reply said "[code bracket slash three - i.e. the text symbol for a broken heart] Okay. Thank you for the warning / confirmation!" When I tried to paste my original comment here the whole comment did not appear. I had to change the bit between the [] brackets for it to appear. I'll mention it in the support forum.
he asked seung ah not to get caught by her boyfriend who was obviously tailing them. he manipulated her into driving…
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to read it that way at first. I guess the line was included to show that he was more or less in control of that situation, not just an accidental victim, and to give Jang Se Ran another reason to see him as similar to her? I wish I could ask the writers about it.
he asked seung ah not to get caught by her boyfriend who was obviously tailing them. he manipulated her into driving…
Was that what it was? Basically he was saying "drive faster so Jang Woo Sang doesn't catch us"? For some reason I assumed he was talking about something bigger. More like "don't get caught doing something / lying about something", rather than literally "don't let someone catch up to you." Maybe I was expecting too much from the writers.
nothing was new, nothing was suspenseful, there was no sequence, they liked to forget an indecent right after…
Personally, I loved Misty up until the ending. It left me feeling robbed of a satisfying climax. This drama is the opposite. The ending was very satisfying.
Thank heaven for MDL commentators I would have watched this drama and been busted up. Y'all saved me..
I waited so I could see how it was received and started watching this the day before the finale so I could binge watch it. I finished watching it the day of the finale. The tragedy tag is deserved but I still really enjoyed it.
OK I totally didn't see that coming, where the hell did that guy come from? How did he know where they were and…
The guy who shot them was the guy who started out as Jang Woo Sang's (JWS) assistant and then became Jang Se Ran's (JSR) assistant after JWS died in the car crash incident. After KMY killed JSR, JSR and JWS' father hired the assistant guy to take revenge.
The drama asks the viewers to make some inferences, but most likely KMY didn't bring his cell phone to the house in the forest at Mount Geumah Mortar. So the assistant would have no way to track him directly, and no reason to think that he would contact YJG. He probably followed YJK to Mount Geumah Mortar. He might've tracked her phone or he might've just been tailing her from the point when he was hired to go after KMY.
Based on the way YJK moved in front of KMY when she was shot, the assistant was probably only targeting KMY. Although he probably didn't care if she also died especially since she was the only witness.
This felt a little bit like a dark and tragic version of Healer. I mean that as a huge compliment because Healer is my all time favourite drama. It also reminded me of parts of Mr. Sunshine.
IMO, the ending fit the drama really well. Although I found Jin Gook and his story line extremely frustrating, overall this drama was much more satisfying than I expected.
