Mixed / bittersweet. I found it sad and frustrating, but there were parts that were sort of happy.
Just a warning, this is fairly spoilery. I found most of the drama to generally be unsatisfying. There are very few happy, satisfying moments, and in the end the main couple do not get to spend their lives together. The happiest parts are almost all dreams that don't come true.
They spend their lives still in love with each other, but apart from one another. The queen seems to lead a very empty life. Occasionally she makes him clothes and writes him letters. They are only reunited when the king is on his deathbed in old age. While that might be less dramatic than killing everyone, I still find it deeply unsatisfying, and it seemed like it wasn't entirely necessary. It was more convenient for his rule if they were not together, but it didn't seem absolutely necessary, which made it all the more unsatisfying.
Read a few comments about this being more about friendship and family love + the love triangle being frustrating. I enjoy pining and a good love triangle as much as the next romance junkie, but can anyone tell me if there's a good amount of satisfying romance? I'd hate to watch 40 episodes and come away feeling dissatisfied.
Just finished episode 25. The villains have mostly been dealt with, the objective of clearing the family name has been achieved, and the good guys are all basically happy. Kind of wondering if I should just stop watching and pretend that was the finale?
Does anyone know if this movie is available with english subs anywhere now? It doesn't seem to be on dramafever, viki, kissasian, or netflix and dramacool doesn't exist anymore.
