I do family research in addition to watching Asian Dramas. From doing research I have found myself looking at another viewpoint, "Smell". In viewing different time periods I consider the smell which they experience. We know they did not bathe often, clothing would be stained, candles and torches smell and and leave marks, etc. On the outside you an abundance of horse manure, someone has to clean it up! And when it rains everything and out smells completely different. Some places have people cleaning the streets, but most often they lived with dirt, mud and manure on a daily basis.
