Could have been great!
I didn’t start this show expecting it to be a BL, but I didn’t think the story would be this underwhelming either.
I thought it would go in a direction where Yoon-jae accepted Ji-eun no matter what, whether she was a woman or a man. I wanted the story to show that no matter what happens to your partner, you still love them for who they are. But that’s not what happened. When Ji-eun was a woman, Yoon-jae was affectionate, but when Ji-eun was Ji-hoon, there was nothing at all. I get that it’s not a BL, but come on. If my girlfriend turned into a guy, I wouldn’t care. She’d still be the same person inside.
That’s the message I expected: that love is about who someone is, not what they look like. It could have even worked as a metaphor for being trans. But instead, the show ignored that angle and dropped the ball.
I’m disappointed. I spent weeks on something that could have been great, but wasn’t. At least it had funny moments, and while annoying, Min-ju did make me laugh. That's the only reason why it isn't rated a 1.
