Came for Kim Dami, stayed for the plot
I love how they utilized the sci-fi so well to enhance the drama. It might get boring if you dislike repetitiveness though I can argue it's an important part of the plot that made you empathize with the character and understand the story betterIf you loved Netflix's Wonderland (2024), you would love The Great Flood. This was even better than Wonderland because Kim Dami carried the whole movie's emotional aspect by herself. Definitely a must watch if you love Kim Dami, sci-fi, AND family drama!

if you've never seen a chinese sci-fi movie, watch this!
for my first chinese sci-fi movie, this feels like a blast. very solid storyline that actually respects the logical scientific aspect very much. explained the theories in the right amount: not too much (that it feels like a lecture) and not too little (that would left the audience confused). the CGI execution is very well done considering the amount of objects that need to be depicted. the drama bit incorporating the scientific aspect is a nice touch though might be confusing for some. personally, i don't like rewatching movies but if you're into rewatching, a lot of rigid details could be picked up along the way. overall, a very entertaining movie and plays as a hard critique to AI-dependence at the same time.Was this review helpful to you?
silly yet heartwarming in its own way
the premise of age gap bl got me hooked, yet the one that truly mattered was the obnoxious storyline. i love how this drama puts bl like it's a part of a bigger complex social issues rather than solely relying on bl to keep you interested. the highlights about having a dream, letting go of your idealism, and accepting yourself the way you are despite being different than everyone else made this drama more charming and heartwarming in its own way. watching this sorta feel like a trauma healing session.the storyline's a bit repetitive at some point, but hey it's mimicking real life and real life's boring sometimes, so the portrayal is kinda spot on. acting was good, i could feel the awkwardness past the screen though. seeing that hatano genichi was really supposed to be an awkward character, i guess that's more of a praise than a hate.
really recommend to watch if you're looking for something lighthearted! remember to put no expectation at all because this is a slice of life drama after all~

Questionnable plot, great lead actors
Riu and Jisung have marvelous chemistry. Suhyo was a bit too flat.Gotta applaud the scriptwriter for saving us from the horrible original plot tho, even got us a kiss scene out of it! Iljo's character was given justice, both by the plot AND Jisung! He's much more than a person who people pity on. Jeonghan's feeling also evolved from pity, curiosity, obsession and turning towards adoration and devotion at the end.
A bit too short but got the closure it deserved. The music is so good and memorable.

a perfect combination of drama in scientific research and school life
watching this feels like a pat in the back for when we are struggling in our studies, just like the characters in this drama. if you cherish the process of learning and obtaining knowledge, this drama depicted it very nicely by making the characters go through science experiments and conference preparation. Kubota Masataka's calm and reserved aura is unbeatable for the teacher's role. he really does a good job in representing the self-assured former researcher and newbie, yet ever-so-caring teacher at the same time. would totally rewatch this just to remind myself of the beauty in learning and how the process looks different for every person.Was this review helpful to you?
