Funny, dramatic, extremely frustrating but rather satisfying?
Rather late to the hype but better late than never and as someone who typically is not a fan of historical pieces I quite liked it mostly...I think.
In terms of the story, I found it pretty decent, there were times where it became background noise but there were a lot of times where I was really hooked in the story. Except I feel like there were way too many love scenes/NC scenes that almost never added anything to the plot and it personally did nothing for me so I kind of wish I had watched the uncut version instead. The storyline was honestly really messy in a neutral sense, like some of the plot points were genuinely confusing but some of them were so well thought out and intriguing. I like how they had that one flashback scene for Pat, which kind of explains her reaction towards Pin and Anin's relationship but I sorta wish they had touched a bit more on that. I loved Prik and Pia, absolutely hilarious and I found the show to be pretty funny at times. I found myself rather confused on what Pin's status was in terms of royalty, sometimes she was a commoner sometimes she was respected as royalty but she (and Pat?) seemed and felt like a glorified servant to me at times. The build up in the last few episodes was so good, and the resolve was really satisfying and I really did love the ending, I found it quite beautiful honestly, I shed a tear. The time skips were a bit frustrating though because they hardly ever looked older but it is not a HUGE deal since it is not that important?
The acting and the casting were amazing, the cast was genuinely perfect like it could not be better. The costuming, the hair, the locations, everything was really really pretty and I loved seeing their different outfits and hairstyles throughout the series and all the places that they go to. Especially Anin, she probably had the best taste in fashion in my opinion, haha.
