I personally don't understand the negative hype over this drama. As a writer myself, I appreciate the slow timing and the quirkiness of the main girl lead. I loved her in Bubblegum and also love her in this drama as well. I myself feel like the writers are making the drama quirky to suit her personality. From her flashbacks and more to come, she was given a lot- and had to adjust quickly to loosing her fiance and her father- to the jail system- that is. Every character in this drama is going through their own sort of strange years in their life because of what happened to the main lead's family and how they are surviving in a different setting. Sure, this drama has some flaws, but I am still sticking to my gut that it still has a lot in store. I can feel where the main lead is coming from, and for that reason- I am giving her a chance.
ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT JUNHO DAMN IS HE A GREAT ACTOR.
Life is a very challenging thing to take in whole. Life throws things at you and all human beings have a different way of coping day in and day out. With everything that happened to these characters-- I don't know, it feels to me that a lot of what is happening are their coping mechanisms. The talking horse. Poong's non-acceptance to pain. Poong lashing out. Chil Seong's protectiveness and smiling at Sae Woo to make one friend- and his true intention of making himself- a gangster- seem friendly and inviting. Poong is very to himself about everything- while Sae Woo is very open to what is happening to her. BUT, Sae Woo doesn't want anything to do with men, and pushes everyone away. Constant drinking. CONSTANT. ... and the list goes on. If you don't like a drama, think of it from a psychological point of view, even if it is humor based- because most times, a lot of things will make sense in terms of the character's actions.
Though i love suzy, but i think Moon Soo is a stronger character than No Eul..i don't think there is a comparison…
You can't judge a character for how they deal with grief. You can only judge them if they make a valiant effort to fix themselves and become better. Towards the end of Uncontrollably Fond, she does find herself and gets rid of past grudges, gets a better job, etc. For this drama as well, she seems to be progressing and getting over grief in a different way, but is still struggling like Noh Eul did.
Getting over the past does include a lot of bravery, and even for a character to become okay again, there is a TON of bravery involved for any character. For someone who has had a lot of hardships, any bravery from someone who has lost hope or is beginning to is a lot.
Look from each characters perspective and through their eyes, and don't judge a character so easily.

Idk I think she reminds me more in her outward appearance and how she handles things. Yet, there is sort of a comparison between them because they are trying to act okay even though they are not. A lot of characters in melodramas have this in common tho.
I think Noh Eul did her best though. That's all that matters- in my opinion.

Okay, rant over (:
