my poor Logan for sure, I don't think any of the main lead would die.
yeah, rip Logan. i can't see how would they write him into the plot for another two seasons, he's pretty much done here. but still i hope for some twist and maybe the end of Rona or Eunbyeol (i feel like Eunbyeol is pretty much destined to die or end up in psych ward anyway)
Am I the only one who doesn’t like ha eunbyeol’s acting? She is unlikeable yes but the actress’ acting only…
totally agree. everyone in this show is over the top when it comes to acting, but it seems like they can blend it seamlessly into the story, in other words i feel like it matches the madness of the whole show. only in Eunbyeol I can see plain acting (overexaggerated facial expression with eyes popping out and clenched teeth or nervous smile ALL THE TIME) and it really stands out when she's in a scene with other actors. you don't have to pop your eyes every two second to sell me a mentally unstable character, it's just too easy. she definitely needs to improve, but she's young and it's a challenging role, so I'd cut her some slack this time.
that scene when Seo Jin walks the hospital's corridor and her face conveys like a ten different emotions. that was the highlight of the last episode. just gold.
People justifying Rona for her bratty attitude towards her mom just because she's supposed to be a character we…
I think you misunderstood my reply earlier. I don't think we should justify her actions just because she's the underdog type of a character. I explained why most people hate her and that's because she's unlikeable and flawed and it's harder for viewers to root for her, especially when we compare her to another underdog character in this story, Min Seol A. I didn't say anything about her age, but maybe that part is not about my post.
I actually wrote a comment here, like few weeks ago, kinda explaining why Rona's behaviour actually makes sense and it's not "bratty for the sake of being bratty" because it is a result of Oh Yoon He's flawed parenting. Like, she just lets her daughter act/do/say whatever she likes, so I don't understand why people are surprised when Rona is so nasty toward her Mom. So yeah, she's unlikeable, I agree on that, but it's not like it came out of nowhere. (At least for the most part, because writing is really inconsistent here)
And that's why I think the hate towards her character is sometimes too much, because being "bratty" is the only thing that people notice, they don't ask why shes actually like that. Like, with other kids it's kinda obvious, so nobody questions their behaviour, but in Rona case it's just "wow, she's irrational and ungrateful". And people are clearly more angry and bothered about it because she supposed to be one of the "good guys" (lol, not in this drama).
Ngl i feel like people are being overly harsh on rona - she's not my favourite character at all, but i don't get…
I think the issue with Rona is the fact that she's supposed be a character that we all root for(mistreated, bullied, poor, good at heart), but because she's more flawed, more human and not perfectly "good" like Min Seol A was, then she's not that relateable or even likeable to most people. And there is a huge contrast between the characterization of her and Seol A, but both characters are similar in their role in the story - they're the underdogs that we all usually root for. So that's why I think so many people are pissed with Rona, she's not that easy to like and support, thus she doesn't meet people's expecations of what that kind of character is supposed to be. Especially after we saw Seol A. And I can't believe that I'm making another post bascially defending Rona when I don't even like her and I do think she's not that well written character lmao. But the hate she receives is kinda unjustified to me.
I truly don't care about the kids at this point, it's the same scenario over and over again, Eun Byul seems to be the only one with some sort of (regressive, but still) development among all of these brats. Everything else in the "adult world" is delicious tho, I eagerly wait for the next episode, which I've never expected to happen lmao.
Ok... So does anyone feel like there was a foreshadowing for whats about to come? Like when Soo Ryun tells Oh…
I'm sure it will eventually happen, but definitely not in this season. Maybe in the last 12 episodes of the whole series. And I'm fine with that! It'd really fit the main narrative.
Is this any good after episode 1? Found it a bit cringe and couldn't continue.
maybe try up to episode 4, if you'll end up enjoying that one then proceed with the rest. it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea - it's makjang to the extreme, so if you find that hard to digest then drop because it will not get any less crazy than it already is.
This show has been consistent from the beginning till the end, as story about discovering and learning about one's identity. It's incredibly relatable to those who faced similar struggles (figuring out your sexuality, loneliness, self acceptance, fear of the unknown/the future, choosing yourself), thought provoking, moving, nuanced, mature and artistically satisfying. It's the closest thing to a real life I've seen in a while. Brilliantly directed and written. Definitely something above genres and cliches.
I honestly can't hate Ro Na as much as you all do because I feel like her tantrums and brattiness are a direct result of her mother's parenting. like, look at this whole situation from Ro Na's POV: her mother constantly tells her that she'll make everything better for them, they'll grow wealthy, they'll move to Hera, Ro Na will get the education (and social status) that Yoon Hee lost in the past and eventually they'll WIN over those who abuses their power, but everything has been getting only harder and harder for Ro Na. so it's kinda understendable that she'll put all the blame on her mother(instead of a f*cked up classist system, because hey, she's a child) and release all of her anger on her, as she feels like her mother is literally ruining her life right now, instead of improving it. and Yoon Hee is so passive in all of this, she lets her daughter do anything she likes and doesn't correct her when she's wrong, so I'm absolutely not surprised that Ro Na acts like an ungrateful and rude brat towards her.
"This drama was everything I didn't think I needed" YES, this, it's kinda... comforiting to watch. It was cute and uplifitg and all kinds of UWU but also really touching at the same time, because of it's subtle commentary on more "real life" problems like loneliness and insecurities. Fantastic drama.
