What the heck is a contract marriage, is this a concept from teen dramas?
Yes ! this is a concept that we can see a lot in manhua manhwa or webtoons ; A contract marriage is when 2 ppl marry each other during a predefined time for something. Exemple with a plot (to show you the difference): Male lead needs to be married to inherit grandfather's company or for the grandfather's last wish (ex :wants to see his grandson being married). And a female lead needs money to pay her mother hospitalisation . They'll meet each other idk how but they will🤣(or they already know each other and ml knows fl situation) . After he'll propose to pay her mother hospitalisation and all her stuff ( medicaments etc..) but she has to marry him during 1 year or 6 month ( = contract of the marriage). So there are 2 case : 1. They start hating each other but after starting living together, feelings come up. 2. They live almost 1 year together but they doesn't like the idea to being separated and realise that they already felt for each other.
Whereas conventional marriage is most of time when they loved each other and during the marriage they got some issues (so the plot is totally different).

We don't see the same things so, jing tian acting was very good to me. Xu kai role was not that complex but he ate. A Ying is a very good character but if you don't understand her she can seems like a nuisance. I respect your opinion, i wish that youll find a drama that corresponds your expectations.

I didn't said that to disrespect Xu Kai work at all !! xD its just that i think it's normal to put him ahead to increased his popularity etc.. His character is the perfect one, many fangirls will come to him after seeing this drama. I don't know how to explain that, it's hard 😞

A Ying is young and very carefull towards the male lead but many moves or acts that she did was details and not showed like Li Ni ones. He is actually THE "perfect" male lead so it's normal to think that this is due to his acting only but not (bc his character is made to be likable). A Ying character is very complex maybe you should rewatch this to see that (if u want to and if u have the time for (i see that you have a big "plan to watch "list)). Xu Kai ate this role, i agree with you ,but this was the goal, he's a young actor who's going to be in his prime, Jing Tian was here as a mentor and good partner. They had a good chemistry btw and even more off screen ( don't forget that 10 eps had been deleted so we don't see all we had to).

Yes, i think that she didn't needed to being in distress that much, she's a female general after all ! Sadly we don't see that much this side of her (i think that was edited after shooting). When she save Li Ni, its always wronged by ppl who doesn't understand her choices so i think production should've been working on her character even more.

Their relationship seems to be real bc of that. Who is capable of trust and being friend with an ennemie just by meeting him once or twice ?? She's focus on her dutys first. For exemple (i don't know if some ppl noticed that) : when she poisoned him to not put everyone in danger ( old couple) when she came out of hiding, she put back some hay to hide him in case some ennemies were still here, that proves that in this time she already cared for him (even had some feelings towards him but didn't express that as Li NI does) Plus all the strategic things that she did was not to betray him personaly but for political stuff. She's a realisttic person who didn't learn how express her feelings. What's beautiful about their relation is that she put Li Ni in front of reality. She wants him but she thinks that the priority is the peace of the kingdom unlike Li Ni who doesn't wants to take his responsability to live his perfect love with her. nobody's wrong in this story, its just different pov !! however in this case, Li Ni had to take his role of royal member first bc sometime we can't choose what we want to from what we have to do.
