Well they are keeping their promise, aren't they? They are watching the cut version instead of the full episode through legal platforms. So technically, they are refusing to contribute to the views or hype of the show due to their nationalism. It's not contradicting at all.

I'm going to echo the sentiments of some of the minority reviewers here in that this drama, at the end of the day, is not worth the time. There is a lot of positives about this drama such as cinematography, intense storyline, great acting but there is one essential flaw to this drama that makes it unwatchable for me (although I finished it within a day): the main characters that you should be rooting for are extremely unlikable. That causes problems because you generally feel no attachment to their plight and thus feel zero satisfaction when you finish the drama. It's extremely unfortunate because I love thrillers and dark plots but by the end of it all, I was just asking myself "why" and "what was the point". From my personal experience, it was just overall very disappointing :(
