I'm at episode 7 and loving the chemistry so far. But... as a Finnish person who used to live in Helsinki, it's also very cringy at times. And unintentionally comical. The Finnish "actors" and extras are so bad, I wonder what the budget has been. The cinematic illusion gets broken quite often because of that. But the romance is good.
This show had a distinct feeling that still lingers when I think about it. The setting in my childhood era of the 90s with boxy cars, chain smoking and skin texture made the suspense even more real. JCW was simply stunning - both actingwise and visually. π I also enjoyed Bibi's character and their chemistry a lot.
This was not my typical genre, so the extreme violence really wasn't my thing. But I managed to enjoy this show very much despite of it! At first, it felt a bit too dark but then I just got used to it (like the characters did) and started to enjoy the ride. And what a ride it was! I think the ending was perfect in all its complexity.
BTW, the Finnish subtitles (on Disney+) were very toned down with the swearing. No mobster ever would use that kind of language. π But I think it would have been too traumatizing for me to see JCW spitting out the worst swear words in subtitles (as he was in Korean), so luckily I got to keep my mental good guy image of him. π
