And he came in to save her knowing he cld also die. The novel states his cultivation was trash because he’s brother basically made him disabled. His life was cheap when he was brutally tortured by his brother until XY saved him. He thought she was dead: his life is over. If you wanted to say he was irrational in how he dealt with not getting out, Ill agree with you but calling him useless? He literally found her first. If he didnt give any spiritual power, she wld have been ash. CX and XL better go find a soul gathering lamp. I mean maybe Jing should have never found her at all. 🤷🏻♀️

He was overcome by grief and in the novel, the fire was last part of the death maze, he was trapped in there too….. It was implied that they couldnt get out……
