I feel bad for all the things XL did but if only he had decided to be XY’s happiness or be the person that is stable for her but he cldnt because his loyalty is to the man that saved him. So while he loved XY, LOVE was NOT ENOUGH for him to leave his obligations so all he cld do is fulfill her wish- - lifetime of carefree happiness. So while I feel sorry for him, he chose this. Because when we talk about why TSJ can’t just break off the engagement- we forget his obligations to all these other stupid clans. And honestly, I wish Jing had the courage to be like “f*ck you all” but 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wouldn’t use the words “pity love”. There was never love/pity love between Skinny and the other girl- she used him as a way to get out of a hard situation. XY comparison was that she rather suffer than depends on someone that may betray her or something that is too good to be true. She doesn’t want to gamble her happiness.As for Jing, XY was a bit possessive of him in the beginning. She loves Jing for what he promised her. I mean if she didn’t, she wldnt be spitting blood in the next few episodes. However, she DEFINITELY has feelings for Xiangliu. But like her comparison, she cannot risk her happiness on a “what if”. CX will always be a brother to her, I mean she was shocked when he later tells her….

And when Jing was “killed”, she was devastated and tried to kill herself.

XY is a bit selfish and insecure, in the sense that she is always waiting for someone to betray her. She admits this in the novel. She stated she never fully truly trusted Jing… that she never planted the seeds to make things happen and that’s why things happened the way it did and if she had confidence in herself, she cld have gone after XL…

I mean if she didnt say what she said to XL at the Dragon cave and kissed him, who knows what might have happened? XL saved Jing because she told him she wanted to marry Jing. If she had answered XL, there was a chance he wldnt have died…. JS
