I love your review! You really hit the nail on the head with all of your points. I waited excitedly for this drama for SO long because of my infatuation with Richard Li and I was hoping and praying that he would get a happy ending since for some reason he almost always has trajic endings in most of his dramas. But I got so bored and dropped it around ep 20 I believe. There were way too many episodes (never thought I would say that about one of his dramas) but it dragged so much. I might pick it up again at some point but I was disappointed with the never ending cliches and the pacing.

I just finished ep 24 and I came here to double check that there’s really only 24 episodes. It felt so lackluster and incomplete. After all the suffering the leads went thru we get a hug after the conflict is over and that’s the end? I guess I should just be happy that Yin Ji was still alive. I was fully expecting for them to kill him off in the finale like so many historical mini dramas do. But I really don’t like abrupt endings like this one 😭

I’m only on Ep 2 but so far I haven’t seen any issues. Hopefully it stays that way for the rest of the show!

I’m thoroughly confused on why so many are up in arms over the age gap between Lusi and William. She did Dating in the Kitchen with Lin Shen who is 18 years her senior when she was 21. And yes I know people also had an issue with that pairing for the same reason. But she is an amazingly talented actress who has proved (in my opinion) that she can hold her own next to a more mature actor. I hope we all can remember what century we’re living in and that she’s a grown woman, not a child, working with a grown man. There’s nothing “indecent” about an age gap between consenting adults. I for one am extremely excited for this to come out. Zhao Lusi is one of my most favorite actresses and I can’t wait to see how she brings her character to life as the very talented, professional actress that she is 🖤

Provoke and Butterflied Lover! He looks fantastic in costume dramas but I really loved him in Provoke as well. If you haven't watched Butterflied Lover, I highly recommend it!

I’ve been dying to watch this ever since I saw the trailer when they first released it and the only thing I can find on youtube has horrible horrible subs so i’m not even going to try to watch it. I wish they would show it with subs on their youtube account. I don’t know how airing these shows works but it’s odd to me that only one of his currently airing dramas is available on the Youku app and youtube in English but not the other. Very frustrating
