I didn't find the FL's acting to be so objectionable. but I do strongly agree with you on two important points. First, the FL constantly mistreats the ML, yet his love for her continually grows. It really is weird. I started to wonder if the writer(s) were trying to create some kind of strange, psychological S&M subtext. Second, the loyalty of both lead characters to their respective murderous, conniving kings just does not make sense. Both lead characters are shown as moral, honest individuals who care deeply for "the people." On the other hand, one king destroys families and orders murders as easily as filing his nails. The other king is equally vicious. He tears one of his sons away from the child's mother and ships him off to a distant border of the kingdom. He then proceeds to destroy emotionaly (and physically, if you consider the abusive eunuchs to be acting in his behalf) his second wife and names his arrogant, deceitful remaining son as his heir. How is loyalty to these characters "caring for the people?" A third flaw, not mentioned by the OP, is unresolved plot points. What happened to the son who was sent away? Did the princess who went crazy recover completely? why were weapons design, black crystals and the new crossbow such a big deal when they actually had only minor impact on the story?

His interpretation of the character he portrayed in Everlasting Longing really elevated that role and made it memorable. Well done!

this drama looks very intriguing for people like me, who are Chinese history buffs. unfortunately, the only source for it that I can find is Amazon Prime. the viewers only option is to buy the series; Amazon is charging $32.99 for the series. ☹️ also, from the way the description of the series is written, it looks like the English translation subtitles will be up to Amazon's usual quality- - abysmal.

A couple of comments about this article(NOT about sex vs. no sex in kdramas).

1. This article is an editorial, a very poor one. While the writer is passionate about a certain point of view, no references or examples are cited to support the assertions. Examples: assertion that viewers are leaving or will leave due to the series’ content. Please offer at least an estimate of the number and a source for the estimate. Is it 10 or 10,000 or 100,000; is the source for figure an industry report or is the source, “I saw it on the internet, so it must be true?”
2. The same concerns as listed in #1 apply to claim that netizens are in an uproar about sex, costumes and perhaps other factors in the drama as well. However, SOME netizens SOMEWHERE are always in an uproar about SOMETHING. Numbers and sources are even more important when one is claiming that netizens are having a big impact on overall public reaction.
3. This editorial is promoting the same tactics that were used to torpedo another kdrama, which was pulled after just two episodes. I hope this effort to inflict personal opinion on the entire viewing public fails. I am completely opposed to “censor- zens” deciding what people are or are not allowed to watch. Will the next step be deciding what we MUST watch? In other words, the approved propaganda of the day?
4. Finally, I believe MDL owes it to its readers to clearly label editorials as editorials. This piece is on the click-through list as a new “article.” Yet what it really amounts to is, “Here’s what I think; details to follow.” Nowhere could I find the disclaimer, “The opinion expressed is that of the author.” So I think it is fair to ask, “Where does MDL stand on the question of censorship.”

Well, this is a fairly old post, so I don’t know if this comment is even worthwhile. Nevertheless, here’s my take for what it’s worth. I watch dramas for the entertainment value, whether it’s suspense, comedy, melodrama, etc. So I want a resolution to the plot that justifies the time I spent watching. If I want to be startled, appalled, frightened, (sometimes) or left with the reaction of “I can’t believe this,” I’ll watch the daily news. So I’d vote “NO” for unfinished dramas. Furthermore, I believe such dramas should come with a warning stating “unfinished” so the viewer can make an informed decision. Lastly, thanks for the info about Princess Agents.. I loved Legend of Shin Li and had planned to watch Princess Agents in order to see those actors in action again.

I would like to express my absolute admiration for this actor’s, incredible skill, which is truly a gift. I have no speculations to offer about his lifestyle. There is so much societal emphasis on personal responsibility for being healthy that getting ill becomes the grounds for victim blaming. What is most important to me is being able to express my understanding and support for his serious digestive health issue. I have suffered from a similar health problem and I know that it can be life-threatening. My family was told that they should probably begin making final preparations for me. Such diseases are also agonizingly painful, and the physical and psychological effects can last well beyond the surgery itself. Congratulations to Mr. Lee for making it through the ordeal! What bravery! He is blessed with both talent and physical beauty; I am delighted he plans to continue sharing both with the public.
