She was prettier then but of course... as everyone are pretty in that age, its got to do with freshness, sweetness…
Also after her debut in mainstream Chinese media, they whitewashed and made her eyebrows too thin to give off of the "innocent" image and comply with Chinese beauty standards. Plus, I think western amkeup suited her eye shape quite well but they tried to give her "innocent" looking CHinese makeup even though the thick line suits her a lot.

she is Uyghur - a Chinese ethnic minority https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UyghursI don't understand why the Chinese…
She's working in mainstream Chinese dramas and movies. If she said something about it, sadly she probably would be banned from the media. That's how it is in China, it's really oppressive with a lot of censorship. I'm sure she is hurt considering she was also borne and raised in Xinjiang where the concentration camps are. Plus before she debuted in mainstream Chinese media, she had a main role in an Ughyur film about Xinjiang liberation in the 1950s, While I don't think she's the best Chinese actoress to date, I do appreciate how much she has accomplished coming from an oppressed minority. I'm sure she wouldn't want to jeopardize that which is why she stays silent.
