If I had a nickel for every time Bai Lu loved a man but still stabbed him anyway, I’d have at least 3 nickels…

Title My Demon
I completely agree. The writers seems to following a type of formula, which basically gives you a good number…
Now that I think about it, this seems very plausible! Perhaps what I felt was "missing" was more natural acting. When actors have that ability to fully act out their romances, it is genuinely breathtaking. I watched Hometown years ago but it left such a huge impression because of the sheer power of their acting.

I agree with what you have said about the supporting leads too. In the beginning the drama felt really well plotted out, everything seemed to come together well. Now, it does seems repetitive in certain areas. The thriller is actually really interesting, which is why I hope they work with it more. I was also hoping that the story could have more religious undertones, and can play with mythology more, but alas, that did not happen. Another thing that I was hoping could have happened was the female lead getting her own supernatural powers. It could have led the story in an entirely new direction. I feel that My Demon has, for the past couple episodes, depended too much on their "formula," when they could have experimented by using tropes that are uncommon in K-Dramas. Then again, I might be speaking too early since we have three more episodes to go.

I am guessing that perhaps our ideas of the "natural" chemistry is different (it is subjective, after all). I look at natural chemistry as the type that was there in Hometown Cha Cha Cha or Crash Course in Romance. Maybe even Goblin (the main leads). The chemistry in these shows seemed to transcend acting, it did not feel artificial at all. Definitely there is a lot of chemistry between the leads in My Demon but I personally don't see it being that natural, it seems a tad bit performative to me. Funnily enough, the leads' chemistry in the BTS seems more natural somehow.

Title My Demon Spoiler
Theres alot of lovey dovey scenes for sure, but is it just me that theres sth missing? I cant seem to get fully…
I completely agree. The writers seems to following a type of formula, which basically gives you a good number of the lovey-dovey scenes followed by the thriller stuff. This makes every episode feel kind of repetitive (in my opinion). I also feel that the chemistry between the leads is present but not "natural," if that makes sense. Their love story in the first four episodes was very well done, from being strangers, to saving each other, then bodyguard, then married. It was very believable in the beginning, but now it feels quite dull. I was hoping that their past love story could take their present story in a different direction but that did not happen either. I hope the upcoming episodes focus more on the thriller stuff because I find it very intriguing, and it has more potential to help the story take a new route.
