i feel the overall story is written very very well, and perhaps I have not watched enough jdoramas of this genre, but I felt like it would have served the story better if Sakiko did not have the random I got divorced 4 times trait dropped on us towards the end. There is no need to have any sort of “balancing” between them in terms of trauma/etc.

What Mitsuru did is real and you could look it up when you search Avoidant Attachment styles (his is of course an extreme case), and this is something people have to deal with if in a relationship with an avoidant, so would really have preferred they faced it head on than counter and cheapen with Sakiko’s divorces.

remove that and I would say the show is a 9.5/10

This is a great show with great nuance in acting by the cast. One of those shows you just sit and think about mid-day.
