I might drop this if I don't warm up to it in a few episodes. The changes they've made so far to the story are rubbing me the wrong way, they're giving me the vibes of the scriptwriters hitting iconic scenes but changing things around so the impact is sucked out of said iconic scenes. See: the encounter with Zi Yue outside of Chen Xing Mountain. The trigger for Yan Hui blowing up at Zi Yue (the hairstick from Ling Xiao) literally isn't there, and there's no reason for its absence. I'm not getting a good feeling from this.
In the novel Tian Yao stabs Yan Hui with his sword because he needs the effect of his heart protection scale that…
Jag they're talking about the scene where he extracts the scale from her in some of the trailers, not when he stabs her for blood in the early episodes.
The lover who betrayed Tian Yao is Su Ying, one of the antagonists. Yan Hui is a completely different person.
No lol, his feelings for Su Ying were genuine prior to the betrayal but they're gone post-betrayal. No love left there, there can't be a triangle if she's not even an option anymore.
Tian Yao in the novels is very stoic and could be rather ruthless towards the Female Lead, but he did feel very strongly. They seem to have cracked him a little for the drama, like Tian Yao in the novel wouldn't have flipped the table like his drama counterpart.
I love everything in this drama❤❤❤❤. But I kind of don't like Sikong Qian Luo and don't know why. May…
Qianluo is did super dirty. She constantly gets lost in the background and the script didn't give her an arc where she gets to be a standout character. Her romance with Xiao Se just exacerbates this issue because Xiao Se ends up sucking the focus away from her (looking specifically at the marriage competition).
She's at her strongest when the story highlights her relationship with her dad, the Spear Deity, and the closest we got to an arc I liked for her was her deciding to take up the Vermilion Bird token from her dad as a sign of maturity. But the story doesn't DO nearly enough with this or expand on this plotline enough so the poor character is left to flounder.
Update: First episode has a premiere on Youtube, so they'll probably release all of it there too. Just uhh if you want to stay up to date you might have to sail the seven seas, if you know what I mean.
Yeah they seem to have changed the major antagonist... which kinda sucks because it messes with the story themes…
What they've done to the xian-demon conflict is kinda weird overall, like its there but also not? The novel's writing was pretty tight and really could've just used some extra padding for atmosphere so idk why they messed with it so much
I'm not terribly experienced with Youku's airing patterns but they might do what they usually do, release a couple eps on youtube, and then stop as its main streaming platform gets ahead and then slowly wean the rest out onto youtube.
Nope actually it's the ML (Tian Yiao) that's naive, was betrayed, and is now cautious (and hell bent on revenge).…
When Tian Yao was seduced by Su Ying he wasn't experienced enough with romance to notice the red flags (like how she only let him show her affection once). Yan Hui even calls him out on this like "if she wasn't a pretty girl would you have been duped so easily"
ohh so is this the same kind of drama where it's a more naive FL and a cold "dragon"/devil-ish character ML??i'm…
Yan Hui wasn't naive in the novel, she was pretty hardened and downright vicious at times. I hope to high heavens they don't sanitize her for the drama, but it seems they might have which just seems like a waste of Zhou Ye as an actress.
Honestly I'll be a bit annoyed if like the trailers imply, Tian Yao takes the Heart Protection Scale back by force. If it is the case it feels less like they added it for actual story integrity as opposed to checking off tropes... like they seem to be doing with Bai Xiaosheng's character if he is indeed a secondary love interest.
The new trailer on Viki is epic :D ... 3 more days !!! They release it faster than in China hahaha, I guess pp…
they release it super early in the morning for North America so calamity hasn't gotten around to translating it yet 😭😭😭bls I wanna know what they're saYING-
