They haven't finished filming, they started filming last month and have only filmed for 2 days so far. The pilot is made up of footage filmed solely for the pilot, it isn't actually anything from the show itself. Santa most likely left the production because he has too much on his schedule with Jasp.er, and prep/filming for 'Me and Thee' and 'Love You Teacher'.

After reading the spoilers I’m not sure if I want to see this but I will stay for Alan and Jeff.
I would just like to say that book 2 spoilers don't necessarily equal season 2 spoilers since the script for season 2 was written without the 2nd novel and the author has stated that they don't have much (if any) control over the script. Which is also why the author removing omegaverse does not mean that it will be removed from the show. All we can do is wait and see.

My thoughts exactly, so thank you for saying this. He's the director, he didn't write the screenplays and he didn't write the source material. Also, New has directed many successful and well reviewed bls, including Until We Meet Again which is a totally different genre than We Are and Perfect10Liners, but people only seem to be judging him on those two shows, saying he can only do rom-coms. Now, I know UWMA was under WabiSabi and We Are, Perfect10Liners and Revamp are Gmmtv, so maybe that's where some people's concern stems from, but this project is Boun's baby and he wrote the screenplay, so I have faith that it will stay true to his vision.

This hasn't actually been confirmed. The author of the novel stated that they were removing omegaverse for the 2nd novel, but the script for season 2 was written separately from the 2nd novel. And no one from the production has made an official statement about whether or not omegaverse will be a part of it. So we don't know anything for sure.
