On Death's Game Part 2 Jan 7, 2024
People thinking death is supposed to be sympathetic. Be so for real. I absolutely love how death is portrayed in this drama. Cruel like it is. Not caring apathetic condescending hits you unexpectedly and ruins your life. like to me that’s very accurate persona for death. Death will mock you and that’s truth in real life. I think death being such a heartless being is perfect here. Death isn’t here to be your friend or hold your hand because you died. With that being said death is neither good or eveil. It remains indifferent. It is simply an event destined to occur at the designated time set for you. Death in its concept is to uphold the natural flow of order so of course death in itself is not gonna be like oh you saved me the trouble of having to kill you. When death itself isn’t inherently bad, in fact they say it is more holy than anything as it is what frees you from everything. It can be joyous sad frightening. It really depends. I just think that those who play with Death obviously wouldn’t get preferential treatment having gone against the natural order of things which again is what death upholds. So I feel like deaths portrayal here is great. You shouldn’t like death and the character is unlikable so I think they hit the mark.

I think the point of this show wasn’t about him killing himself or suicide in the general sense, I think she was testing him to see if he truly wanted to die. If in that moment he was 100% sure that this was the decision. And by the end he was begging for another chance at life. Why because in his other lives it was clear he didn’t want to die he was just unhappy with his life circumstances and in the face of someone with a better life than his he was willing to live as them. I think it’s because after all Death knows best about someone’s will to die and when they are going to. In this sense I think the point of this show is that sometimes you do things in the moment but you have to be sure that that’s what you want because once you do it there is no going back. If you want to kill yourself by all means Death is gonna sit back and let you but know that there are no second chances once it has been done. You can’t regret it. You can’t take it back. I think death just wanted to see if he truly had the will to die because if he did I don’t think he would’ve bothered with the other lives. He would’ve simply died. Even if it meant going to hell

I don’t think it was ever about shaming suicidal people. As suicide comes in different ways. People kill themselves for different reasons. I think at the end of it all it’s just to test if a persons will is truly to die and not to die in the moment because then they will regret it. It’s like the office worker he also was going to die by suicide yet she’s not bothering with him and I think it’s because that guy truly wanted to die and I think in cases where you truly want to die death will not hinder you versus someone who takes advantage of death to escape there circumstances. I think this is solidified at the end when he begs for one more chance at life which is funny because death doesn’t give second chances. Only goes to show he never truly wanted to die but based on his circumstances that was his only answer.

One thing does stand true is that even in real life you will never if someone who took their own life regretted it in those last moments or if they smiled with happiness and relief. You simply will never know.

There is no such thing as saving yourself from the face of Death and I think that’s the irony of this show.

This drama annoyed me for real. Why did Yijae have to get his legs chainsawed off to learn that life is valuable?…
You missed the point there. Yi-jae did not get his legs chopped off because of life. he got them cut off because he was trying to get revenge for jisu by having evidence against Tae woo who is a psychopath. He died on purpose as explained in the show like that so he could put tae woo in jail. I’m sure that had nothing to do with the purpose of life at the point he was trying to bring down Tae-woo and needed to die to catch him in the act. He took advantage of his ability to die and be brought back in another life.

And I Just wanted to add this in another comment because people are confused about his other lives if he goes back to his original life.

This is exactly why this drama has the best full circle moment in drama history because if you go back to episode one where the guy gets hit by a car….that was Yi Jee in his 11th life the one he threw away instantly. So as you guys can see those lives will be played the way he lived as them. And it’s shown in episode 7 opportunity when he had the opportunity to save himself initially from commuting suicide. That moment when he as the depressed officer worker grabbed himself(Yi Jae) from the past. so I felt it was very obvious that his previous lives had already been living in the way he lived them from the very first episode when he witness that guy getting hit by a car which was him in the future living as that guy. So all those events will still happen only this time he will be living his own life. It just like a save point as death explained. From that save point they’ll live there lives the way he did while he lives his second chance at life as himself. If that makes sense

When I tell you this drama is genius I’m still blown away.

The only person who is left up to fate is jisu since she’s destined to die as well. One can only assume Yi Jae will try to save her or let life take its course or who knows maybe death spared her

For anyone wondering who the woman is that’s dead in the beginning is check the spoiler
It’s Jisu. It’s not obvious at first so some might be confused but she’s wearing the same shoes at the time of her death and had the same orange book. It’s clear that woman is jisu. And that is the ML as Lee Do Hyun. That is how part 1 starts and how it ends. That’s the reason why it’s not in color until the 4th episode when that part ends because the shoes and her book were a giveaway. It’s them dead.

Since there are people still confused about who they are

#8 final

To me this was a beautiful ending. People saying what happened I think it’s obvious. He avoided death and was able to live on as his mother for 32 years and then died of old age. Thus beating deaths game. He didn’t realize it but in that moment when he was begging to have another chance to love as himself once more. Truly valuing the cost of life after living as his mom. I think the ending was obvious. He shot himself to give himself a second chance at life. Instead of jumping we see him grab the phone that’s clear indication that he answered that phone call from his mother…in the end he survived and thus his story having a happy ending as jisu wanted 🤍

People wonder if he really got his happy ending since it’s left to interpretation to me it’s not empty or having anything left to be desired I feel like you all missed the point. The point isn’t how his life turned out in the end whether he got a job or not or anything like that guys. The whole point was that he was Once again with his mother. The person he desired to be with the most. The person he felt the most regret for. Him picking up the phone from his mother was indication of that. The emotion in his voice when he called out her name. It doesn’t matter if your life is shit what matters is that there are people who care about you even in the hard times. The happy ending for him was to be around the people he cared for. Whatever else happens in life is whatever as long as he is with those he loves. Although his life was hard, his mother still supported and worked hard for him something he took for granted. You should be grateful to those around you and realized the people you will hurt from the consequences of your actions only it took him 12 lifetimes to see that.

For people wondering about his other lives it doesn’t matter because those people were destined to die however I think it was obvious to me that those lives he lived as in his second life would be played out in the way he lived them. Basically the save point he created for them when he lived as them. So everything would happen again the way he did it. Only this time he’d be alive living his own life .

The only thing that’s really left in the dark is the fate of jisu

The fate of jisu is unknown but one can only guess that somehow he saved her from dying or maybe death was generous enough to keep her alive in his second time at life.

#7…..he wasted an opportunity to save himself smh yet he killed himself amost immediately, I am so Impressed I’ve said this so many times but the “full circle” moment is insane in this drama. The ending …omg I’m down to the last episode I hope it’s a happy ending 😭

The ending of this episode was like a saw movie. This was probably my favorite lifetime so far. Him as the police detective was definitely my favorite. I thoroughly enjoyed it. But that guy still did not die??? I don’t believe it because why couldn’t he have done that as well in his first life and survived ughhhhh?!! He is so smart he used everything from his previous lives to get that asshole. I wonder if there is more to his connected lives than we see. I’ve got 2 more episodes left I really don’t want it to end? I want to him live even more lives 😫

It’s amazing how everything came full circle. This was such a well thought out show

💀💀💀💀💀no because why was he acting all hard and playing the serial killer role just for him to pass out and then it reversed on him 💀 bro I’m crying 😭😭😂😂
😂

I’m seeing a pattern, everything is somehow connected to that guy. Crazy how every lifetime had some connection to each other. It’s interesting to see

This life was definitely the worst way to die

Something about Kai telling Gaku “speak and make me understand” every time gaku says something makes me go feral like every time it sounds so domineering 😮‍💨 he’s like speak and tell me, make it clear to me don’t just say it type of thing and it’s the hottest thing ever. I’m think In love with Kai fr

Kai is so 😭 he always like if you don’t do this YOUR FIRED I don’t need useless people ILL GET RID OF YOU like he’s always making sure gaku knows he’s disposable 😭anytime he tasks him with something . It seems like he does have a motive and that’s why he’s so pushy with Gaku

Kai mentioned not having a lot of time…what does he mean? He’s not dying is he???? What is counting down toward. But this could be the reason why he’s like that with Gaku

As of ep 4 just guessing “we chose gaku” I’m assuming somewhere down the line Kai left because they chose gaku over Kai? I don’t know I’m sensing some kind of betrayal or something idk lol.

I do wonder about Kai’s intentions lol….sometimes he’s giving devious energy lowkey sinister lmfao lol. Like I really can’t read him. I just think he’s trying to push gaku to further limits he’s just so weirdly odd about it like his vibe is just……like he’s has some ulterior motive for sure or something.
