I am as unhappy as you, I want to state that in the beginning. BUT I want to point out that censorship doesn't…
I just wanted to point out that censorship doesn't concern only the BL side of the story, as some people may assume. Also that the censorship is much more complicated than just censoring whatever their heart desires, that the censorship actually has a reason to be executed, whatever the reason may be.

I also agree the first 8 eps and the now released eps are like night and day. I was quite taken aback how different the vibe is. But we gotta take what we were given because I'd not be as hopeful to expect the uncensored episodes to be released.

As a fan of priest's books and a person who has read Silent Reading twice, I must say that I am utterly baffled…
I am as unhappy as you, I want to state that in the beginning. BUT I want to point out that censorship doesn't concern only the BL scenes. Censorship censors whatever the government deems as unsuitable for the audience. And portraying a non-police individual (AKA Pei Su, and yes I know he was added to the team as a psychologist assistant, not just a random outsider, but he still isn't a proper member of police forces) as smarter and more capable than trained police officer of an elite police department is something, that can potentially plant seeds of thought that real police isn't as capable as ordinary people may think, which can lead to distrust in the police forces (which are one of the pillars of power for non-democratic regimes). The government will censor even such ridiculous things as problematic and toxic relationships leading to breakups and divorces when they want to boost marriage and birth rates. They will censor incapable police officers when they want to lessen crime rates and so on... So I'd say this scene and some more are censored in order to make SID look better, no just to make the BL scenes appear like bromance at best.

Do I think it's a shame Japan was sold the censored version? Do I think it's unfair? Of course I do, but considering my understanding of how CCP and communist regimes in general operate, we really can be happy we're even able to watch the rest. Though I don't blame anyone for deciding not to continue anymore cuz it will tarnish their view of JITD.

They've removed the car scene, and I don't understand the point if I wanted to watch a crime show with male characters,…
There's a released script? Is it available somewhere in English or chinese only? I don't mind either way, only that my Chinese is not that good, so it will take me a longer time to read it.
