I wish Wen Xiao was a better character. Sis is just a Mary Sue, has no relevant habilities whatsoever but ended…
So true! It really feels like she’s just there to be the main lead, without any defining characteristics or a well-thought-out storyline. She’s just… pretty, kind, and a goddess. Honestly, she feels more like a burden to the rest of the group than a powerful figure, she needs protection 24/7 and knows next to nothing. Great emotional support, but that’s about it!
So far, I’m into the drama even though it has a few rough patches. But there are two things that really annoy me.
First—exactly HOW WEAK can a GODDESS be? I understand that at first she didn’t have her token, but she’s no better after finding it!I expected that, since she had a Master, she’d been learning something useful. So, after retrieving her power, she’d at least know some spells or martial skills, feel the power—literally anything! But she still just... cries and falls down. Okay, and plays the flute now. Bai Jiu has more potential to be a goddess at this point, haha.
Second: if you think about it, they’re not actually that good at investigating, lol. This was introduced as a big, responsible project for the chosen ones, but at this point, they let every criminal they’re supposed to catch just… die. By the third death, I actually started laughing. I know it was probably all part of Li Lun’s plan, but still. The plague demon’s death felt so unnecessary, and same goes for the fish ghost.
I don't think I've ever seen such a strong pilot episode! When I'm rewatching dramas, I tend to skip pilots or even first few episodes. This won't happen here, so far my favorite episode!
I'm not as furious as some people here in the comments, but I have to agree that the drama is taking a weird turn. It feels like they didn't properly introduce Xiyan and its plot from the beginning, so now it's a bit confusing, and I don't really care about it. Also, the main mystery was wrapped up too quickly.
And I wanted to throw up after seeing the princess confess to the emperor. Girl, he's a grandpa, and you're like sixteen! This plot point wasn’t necessary—they could have shown him becoming a father figure to her or something. Why love? Wtf.
Did Qing Yan die in the last episode, or is he just wounded? I remember him losing consciousness during the fight and I don't think he is shown afterward in the episode nor in the ep 24&25 trailers.
I managed to watch it till the end, but it was quite a rollercoaster. A few times I wanted to drop it—not because it was particularly bad, but because it felt... confusing? Yet, I'm not sure what exactly was confusing, since it definitely wasn’t the plot. I saw someone here in the comments say that it's not good, but not bad and the plot is not necessarily going anywhere, and I couldn't agree more. The comedy was fine, though sometimes a bit too over the top for my taste, but I know that's subjective. Some people might love it. One issue was that the lines and scenes were quite repetitive. I dare someone to count how many times the FL says, "It's all a misunderstanding." As for the romance, there were some really good scenes with decent chemistry between the leads, but things progressed too quickly with the ML, and there wasn’t much explanation for his feelings. The last three or four episodes were so random and boring that it was honestly a struggle not to drop it so close to the finale. I liked the direction they took with the ending, but it felt rushed and forced. Overall, I found the drama pretty silly—not in a fun, goofy way, but in an "offensive to my intelligence" kind of way. Something just felt off, and it left me with a weird aftertaste.
I think this drama would be good for young teenagers who are new to cdramas and still exploring the genre. It has that old Disney Channel vibe: there’s a plot, but it’s full of holes and quick, easy solutions, not much logic but at the same time its entertaining enough and has a nice romance.
I low key want to see Daon watching Bitna being absolutely smashed by Baek for doing something wrong, to the point where he realizes that it's his fault cause he and her have different meanings of "punishment". Since he knows only the "earthly" meaning, and she's literally from Hell, so she punishes them literally for eternity.
Your first mistake ... this is not a pure romance drama. I think you haven't watched wuxia dramas . In wuxia dramas…
I do watch wuxia and I love action, that's not what I'm complaining about here. It's the fact that fighting scenes are all there is every episode. My comment about romance was simply explaining that there is potential but the scenes in my opinion feel for like a fill-ins
First at all , this drama is not a complete romantic series which you are seeking. And secondly they showed us…
I typically enjoy storylines with strong female leads and action/adventure elements, but it seems you're viewing this with a heavy bias. If you focus on the fight scenes, it’s clear that they dominate the story, often feeling repetitive and excessive. Strength can be shown in various ways, not just through endless combat with a blade. A well-rounded portrayal of a strong character should go beyond physical battles to highlight intelligence, resilience, and emotional depth, which is overshadowed here. It's literally one big fighting music video interrupted by a few scenes. And please don't come for me only because I'm critiquing your favorites :)
episode 12 and I'm skipping so much, cause it's mainly fighting montages.. I'm serious, all they do is fight, at least half of every episode. Romance is promising, but there's not much of it so far. I wonder if I'm able to finish all 50 episodes, if that's how it's gonna go.
Everyone here going crazy over this drama, and I'm so lost, cause the first episode is so chaotic I had to look…
just finished it, honestly the actors are decent but the story is too rushed and doesn't glue together well for them to show full potential or chemistry. Feels like a 2013 wattpad story written by a 13 year old, 4/10
Everyone here going crazy over this drama, and I'm so lost, cause the first episode is so chaotic I had to look on other websites because I was sure I'm watching cut scenes instead of the pilot
