I don't have the time to discuss things with someone who only knows how to make personal insults and backhanded comments, at least the other triggered blackpink fans maintain some form of elementary respect in their comments.

Lol with this I agree. I'm usually too busy for things like this, but I finally got a week off and I actually caught up on all the kdrama's I've been missing out on. I don't usually comment on any of this stuff but KHY is someone I've followed for a long time and ik how painful her story has been which is why i got a little sensitive if thats the right word.

I'm against the idea of any idol getting random lead roles for the sake of clout. But usually even with idols, their breakout roles are minor roles. (IU, Jin Young from Got7, Cha Eun Woo from Astro and pretty much everyone else- they all did minor AF roles starting off). Jisoo is not going to read this comments section lol, she's a busy girl.
I was just voicing my opinion on how the casting would affect the drama value. That's what this forum is for - to voice your opinions about dramas. I have always been a big fan of theater and film, and it disappoints me when content quality is compromised for spotlight.
Also I've been saying this repeatedly - i didn't bash Jisoo, I just personally think the directors should have casted someone based on sole relevance to the character. But again, like I've been saying repeatedly - there's a slim but real chance Jisoo will blow us away with her acting.

for those who have been going rabid at me for my comment, there's something called freedom of speech and our society thrives on it. If you don't like something you can say it, best said in a way that doesn't hurt someone's feelings but you can say it and tbh you should say it. I never said Jisoo was a terrible actress or that she should never get into acting, i just said things should've started smaller for her.
If you can't say what you want, how will the internet differ from say North Korea where everything is censored and monitored and you can't state your true opinion. Think bigger please.

I didnt include the names of the other actresses cs it was a moot point. yes its an insult to them as well if jisoo's acting doesnt hold up to the hype and the big role she's taken up. I just wasn't personally heartbroken by them being on the list, simply because Im not a massive fan of their previous work and I haven't been following them for years. Where as with KHY - i HAVE been following her for years and I've seen her work so, so hard. And I truly think that she is an amazing actress. and the only reason why i made an account to put out my 2 cents on the matter.

exactly my point. i feel like the directors just casted her for already existing massive fanbase. which is understandable in a way. but in my opinion it takes out the essence and the true beauty of theater and film. it should always be about the story and never about the actors. the actors should bring the story to life and not the other way around.

I dont even know what those terms mean. I listen to blackpink music and I enjoy them - i think that makes me a fan. or at least someone who likes their work.

hun I never hated on her. I really am a fan of her music. If i was hating on anyone, i was hating on the directors for their casting criteria.

I don't hate anyone. They're gorgeous girls, amazing singers and even better dancers. They deserve all the popularity they have. I wouldnt call myself a hardcore fan, but im definetely a fan of their work.
That being said, Im also aware of how grueling and difficult it is to break into the world of acting in korea. Its a tough process and their acting circles hold a bunch of incredibly talented people. There has never been anyone who landed a lead role as their breakout role. even A listers like Nam Joo Hyuk played minor roles for years. Its just my opinion and i think i have the right to say it.
And yes, i did make an account yesterday? Why? not because i hate jisoo, but because it broke my heart seeing Kim Hye Yoon so low on the cast list. I have followed her acting for years and she has worked so,so hard to get to where she is today.

i do like her. i think shes gorgeous and an amazing singer. but the way acting works is you usually work your way into the industry. IU is a bloody amazing actress, but her start was a minor role in Dream High, and then she slowly moved her way up the ladder. Her acting was very mediocre in dream high and now shes nothing short of bloody fantastic. why? because it was a gradual process and she learnt the ropes. this role will be tough on jisoo more than anyone else - its a lot of high expectations on her.
but at the end of the day i do agree - there is a slim but real chance that jisoo's acting will blow us away

thanks for this faraaz - i feel like you're the only one who truly got my intentions with my comment. I don't hate Jisoo at all, I just thought that there were more qualified for the role. But given that - like i originally said, i wish her nothing but the best of luck because this will be nothing short of a tough role.
The arguments go both way tbh - about jisoo landing the character over KHY. i could ask you what makes you think they both didn't audition. Its a never ending argument that nobody will know the answer to. But usually when new actresses with a massive, already established fanbase lands a big role their first time, its because the directors want to optimize on the spotlight. lets be honest if jisoo wasnt playing the lead, there wouldnt be half as much attention on this story as now. so ig their move paid off in that sense.
but like you said lets wait till the drama is released and see how things play out. fingers crossed

Listen I'm a fan of blackpink and I'm sure Jisoo is possibly a good actress but it kinda makes me mad that she was casted for the main role over Kim Hye Yoon. Kim Hye Yoon has spent over a decade playing minor roles and she just recently had her break through. It broke my heart when she described in an interview how grueling the process was for her. She's an amazing actress and so versatile with her characters.
To think that Jisoo who has no previous acting roles landed a character over such experienced, talented other actresses playing side roles in thie drama kinda pisses me off. The only thing that could justify her getting such a big role over the rest of the cast would be if she was incredibly talented and aced her tryouts for the role, blowing the directors away. which i highly doubt she did considering she has no significant past acting experiences and the little bit of acting I've seen her do in music videos hasn't exactly been mind blowing. Not hate at all, just stating my genuine opinion.
Either way best of luck to her because this defenitely puts a big spotlight on her - given that she will be acting beside veterans. not the easiest debut role to play.
