To me he was plenty annoying in the novel, too. 😅 He's definitely more annoying here, though. I was very satisfied when novel-Yifan decisively shut him down even when all he did was buy her breakfast, so I don't like how the writers made drama-Yifan too timid to put her foot down on the house visit.

In the novel the only one that FL considered a "love rival" was Duan Jiaxu. 😅

I remember in You Are My Secret the translation was "unattainable love." The resulting sentence was awkward in English, but it was easy enough to figure out what was meant. With CDramas becoming more popular translators should just start throwing in terms like "white moonlight." Would have made sense in that scene.
